No tengo porque escoger entre dos actores tirΓ‘nicos. Los dos son enemigos de la democracia, y ninguno le importa la salud o seguridad del bravo pueblo.

"The last thing NYCHA residents need is more process and red tape. I love a good Community Board meeting as much as the next person, but when my sink breaks, I donβt have to spend five years in working groups begging to get it fixed. Neither should NYCHA residents." #affordablehousing
You know what's a privilege? Being fresh out of HS and not having to (at 18 years old) navigate the college application process without wrestling with one's racial or ethnic identity.
People are seriously underestimating the number of New Yorkers who have gone through the same process.
Reading all the headlines about Venezuelans getting detained and deported over their tattoos left me feeling helpless. It also convinced me to get my first at 41. chstr.me/tattoo
Strong words from some of New York's biggest defenders of immigrant communities. @thenyic.bsky.social's @heyitsmurad.bsky.social is joined by three @council.nyc.gov speakers who enacted and defended critical policies over the last 15+ years to protect immigrant New Yorkers' rights.
Iβm honored to support this work and to help City Limits continue to be a critical voice in the conversation. If you care about the future of New York and the people who call it home, please follow its great journalists' reporting and support their mission: citylimits.org/donate-now/
Housing isnβt just about where people live β itβs foundational to everything. City Limits has been a leader in covering housing issues with the depth and nuance they deserve, elevating typically unheard voices, holding decision-makers accountable + ensuring the public has the information they need.
Iβm very excited to share that Iβve joined the board of @citylimitsnews.bsky.social.
If you don't already know, City Limits provides in-depth, independent reporting on the issues that shape New York City β especially housing, one of the most urgent and complex challenges our communities face.
Not for nothing but if congestion pricing helped cut my travel time to the doctorβs office from South Slope to Downtown Brooklyn, more please. #b63
I thought I was ready.
(I am not ready.)
IRL example of local zoning at the Houston Childrenβs Museum.
#CityOfYes is just the first step toward tackling our housing shortage and affordability crisis. NYHCβs Rachel Fee explores what needs to happen now, especially at a national level. Spoiler: "itβs critical to preserve public housing and rental assistance to combat the national housing crisis.β
Important message from @thenyic.bsky.social's @heyitsmurad.bsky.social ahead of the upcoming legislative session: "Our state and local leaders are the last defense against unconstitutional and immoral federal policies."
Literally "Veep."
"Our Constitution is for all of us. Even for undocumented immigrants." Speaking to @michael-hill.bsky.social, Mayor Adams walks back earlier comments that undocumented people were not entitled to due process under the U.S. Constitution on @wnyc.org today. #nyc #imigration @gothamist.com
NYC says, "Yes to Housing," following the City Council vote in support of the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity and thanks to the Yes to Housing Coalition.
#CityOfYes passes! Shout out to the #YesToHousing Coalition for its tireless work fighting for more housing in every neighborhood. Along with #CityForAll, today marks an unprecedented step toward more housing across New York City that can address our affordability crisis.
American voters elected a verifiably prolific liar, so the pearl-clutching over the pardon flip-flop feels a little misplaced.
Mass deportation will hit political, logistical, economic, and legal obstacles -- but Trump can do vast damage to immigrant families and communities along the way, and NYC's next mayor is morally and politically obligated to resist and repair the wreckage. My latest in @nymag
Went out as a 40-year-old in Bushwick last night and witnessed someone at the bar Shazaming Frankie Goes to Hollywoodβs βRelax.β
And here, via the Council, is a list of all the modifications they made. (The full zoning text will be posted at some point to the council's Legistar website.)

City of Yes for Housing Opportunity gets voted on by City Council committee this week. Here's Richard Buery and Bea De la Torre explaining why the rezoning is essential for the poorest New Yorkers. www.vitalcitynyc.org/articles/why...
Misinformation on Latino immigrant TikTok is insane. Video (85k likes!) claims Trump announced heβll only deport illegal immigrants who committed crimes in the US, heβll create a legal pathway for construction workers, ICE agents wonβt do workplace raids, working immigrants will get $2k/mo. checks
Nativist opposition to housing is unbecoming of NYC elected officials. We must pass City of Yes so we can continue to welcome new residents and provide affordable housing to current residents. citylimits.org/2024/11/12/o...
βVeronica Yurovsky lives in a building in Park Slope that is 18 stories tall that was built in 1968, and said if it were built today, βpeople would claim that itβs out of character for the neighborhood and would mount campaigns against it being built.ββ

As a country, we will have to learn the hard way now.
Whatβs the score?
Independent polling by Princeton's @zoningwonk.bsky.social shows that 72 percent of New York City voters support the pro-housing reforms that #CityofYes would create. The City Planning Commission approved the plan β now it's up to the City Council to say #YesToHousing.
RIP Shelley Duvall.
A new Crain's editorial highlights separate reports by the New York Housing Conference and the Citizens Budget Commission on why it's so important for every neighborhood to do more to add housing of all kinds or risk losing more residents to the housing crisis. #affordablehousing #yestohousing
