"My client loved that blanket and was devastated that it didn't follow her to her new placement. Lo and behold, this year a glow-in-the-dark blanket appeared in the toy donations and we gave it to her for Christmas. She said it was the best present she got!"
"I have a 9-year-old client who was so horribly abused she is absolutely terrified of the dark. Last year, I got her a glow-in-the-dark blanket that disappeared when she changed placement.
It was an honor to attend the #NJLJ seminar to present our training about secondary trauma and burnout. Community responders and helping professionals can reach out to the Resiliency & Justice Center for support or info about our next CE-CERT trainings.
The impact of her work will continue to be felt for years to come, as her example of kindness and commitment remains woven into the fabric of Legal Aid Center. We offer our love and support to Elizabeth's family as they grieve this incredible loss.
She met with clients, explained the process, and gathered every document so that an attorney could easily step in to file the action. She was always even-keeled, kind, and respectful to anyone in need of help. Everyone in our organization who had the chance to get to know Elizabeth loved her.
Elizabeth handled family law and guardianship cases, but her true expertise was bankruptcy. She comforted so many people going through tough economic times due to medical catastrophes, death, and divorce.
We are very sad to share that our beloved colleague, Elizabeth Montes, has passed. Elizabeth joined Legal Aid Center as an advocate over 22 years ago and helped thousands of clients. She was such an incredibly important part of our organization, always stepping in to help whenever we had a need.
