Rush hour traffic in Utrecht.

Sound on πŸ”Š if you want to experience that rush hour IS possible without the constant, deafening noise of cars overpowering people talking.

Before photo of Sint Josephlaan in Utrecht. The photo shows a four-lane car sewage straight through a residential area. A narrow sidewalk and narrow cycle path on both sides, but there is no greenery at all.

Photo of the Sint Josephlaan after the transformation. The photo shows the new situation, in which the number of lanes has been halved and a lot of space has been added for greenery. Both on the sides and between the lanes.

Three years ago, Utrecht completed the transformation of the Sint Josephlaan and turned an unattractive, unlivable car sewer into a green city boulevard.

It shows that even Dutch cities were not always like they are today and have often come a long way in becoming better versions of themselves.
