Paramount paid that kind of money for a junk service. I think the analyst knows they're talking about idiots

Don't worry, the next short lived streaming service will also be named something stupid and memeable

Looked it up, and 8 years old for a cat is like 48-50 years old for a human. That's no senior D:

A digital drawing of Stede Bonnet and Edward Teach from Our Flag Means Death kissing. Stede is holding Stede in his arms and is dipping him backwards with his hands around Ed’s waist. Ed is holding Stede by the neck and has one of his legs kicked up in the air. Stede is wearing his early s2 outfit with loose fit, dark blue breeches, a white shirt, red cravat, and a dark brown belt and boots. Ed is wearing his leather outfit and has a short beard. His hair is loose. They’re standing on a beach, in front of the ocean and under a blue sky.

I just hope whichever fool is holding the Harry Potter series at release to go under.

WBD and PARA have the same type of incompetent management failures, and they're just saying things now to stop a mass resignation wave

Harry Potter itself is filled with sexism, racism, and antisemitism, and it's very pro-cop and pro-slavery. It will fit in nicely with the Ellisons!

Agreed. The winner-takes-all approach to the EC also distorts local variations, and ignores that the EC is a voter suppression tool. I live in a votes-purple area (with blue leaning people just staying home bc of the EC), but I keep seeing that the town is "ruby red" in discussions bc of those maps

Young folks, I strongly recommend buying a DVD player and stocking up on some great DVDs of classic movies and TV shows.

Many of them won't exist after this Paramount-Warner Bros merger.

I live in the literal middle of the country. I wish people would drop "middle America" as codeword for angry uneducated white fascists already. Plenty of progressives in real middle America

Paramount's new offer amounts to $31 a share for the entirety of Warner Bros. Netflix had previously offered $27.75 for only the studio and streaming portions of the company. Crucially, Netflix did not want to acquire Warner Bros.' linear television channels, which include CNN, TBS and the Food Network.

Included in Paramount's offer are a series of sweeteners meant to demonstrate its willingness to put its money where its mouth is. If the deal doesn't close by Sept. 30, Paramount will pay Warner Bros. shareholders 25 cents a share every day β€” referred to as a ticking fee β€” until it does. If the deal is killed because of regulatory matters, Paramount will pay Warner Bros. $7 billion.

Paramount will also cover the $2.8 billion termination fee Warner Bros. would owe Netflix for backing out of their previously agreed-to deal.

lol it's built into the warner bros deal that ellison has to pay the breakup fee β€” so he's literally handing netflix $2.8 billion just to walk away. (what would be REALLY funny is for like the EU to kill the deal and put him on the hook for another $7B.)

Netflix was right to walk away from WB. Let Paramount overpay. CNN will suffer tremendously under their leadership much like CBS is suffering now. If we want to cause serious financial harm to Larry Ellison…

I'm also convinced Netflix pumped up the offer to get Paramount to overbid on junk, easily removing one company as a serious streaming competitor, or for the lulz

If WBD were worth that price, Netflix would be paying that price. New merger stock will follow WBD's post-merger downward trajectory

27.02.2026 01:57 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I'm convinced one of the primary reasons Paramount wanted WBD was to get control of CNN before the midterms bc Paramount is run by dinosaurs who think it's still 1980 and progressives watch CNN

Also, Paramount is verging on bankruptcy and needs an IP injection but they don't know how to manage IP

OH NO THEY'RE GONNA DESTROY CNN

You mean the "news" network that integrated an online political gambling site into their programs and turned every segment into Crossfire? Oh fuck. How will we ever recover

People are forgetting CNN hit record viewership lows, somehow, during the 2024 presidential cycle and somehow kept hitting new lows through 2025. Paramount isn't going to somehow turn that around and successfully lure in Fox News viewers (the demographic Paramount wants)

A digital painting of Ed and Stede snuggled up in bed asleep. They’re on green sheets with a green comforter. Ed has his arm on Stede’s chest and Stede is grabbing it with both hands. Their heads are nestled together. They’re both wearing wedding rings

One of the writers of the show has proudly stated he never read the books, and they're all excited to do their own thing rather than being a faithful adaptation. No planning, no oversight. Just waste.

Keeping audience attention for 7 years with a better conclusion already filmed is unheard of

I genuinely don't know what they were expecting with this series. I know it's partially about IP milking and partially for JKR's extremist ego, but was any real thought put into this, even after that massive price tag was put on it? 1 episode of this costs more than some seasons of GOT did
