Agreed. The winner-takes-all approach to the EC also distorts local variations, and ignores that the EC is a voter suppression tool. I live in a votes-purple area (with blue leaning people just staying home bc of the EC), but I keep seeing that the town is "ruby red" in discussions bc of those maps

Paramount's new offer amounts to $31 a share for the entirety of Warner Bros. Netflix had previously offered $27.75 for only the studio and streaming portions of the company. Crucially, Netflix did not want to acquire Warner Bros.' linear television channels, which include CNN, TBS and the Food Network. Included in Paramount's offer are a series of sweeteners meant to demonstrate its willingness to put its money where its mouth is. If the deal doesn't close by Sept. 30, Paramount will pay Warner Bros. shareholders 25 cents a share every day — referred to as a ticking fee — until it does. If the deal is killed because of regulatory matters, Paramount will pay Warner Bros. $7 billion. Paramount will also cover the $2.8 billion termination fee Warner Bros. would owe Netflix for backing out of their previously agreed-to deal.
lol it's built into the warner bros deal that ellison has to pay the breakup fee — so he's literally handing netflix $2.8 billion just to walk away. (what would be REALLY funny is for like the EU to kill the deal and put him on the hook for another $7B.)

People are forgetting CNN hit record viewership lows, somehow, during the 2024 presidential cycle and somehow kept hitting new lows through 2025. Paramount isn't going to somehow turn that around and successfully lure in Fox News viewers (the demographic Paramount wants)

I genuinely don't know what they were expecting with this series. I know it's partially about IP milking and partially for JKR's extremist ego, but was any real thought put into this, even after that massive price tag was put on it? 1 episode of this costs more than some seasons of GOT did
