In 2022, #Arrakihs was selected as a fast mission under #CosmicVision.

By imaging Milky Way-type galaxies in the nearby Universe, Arrakihs will provide important measurements to address key questions in galaxy formation theory.

From the time evolution we can distinguish how gas is stripped during infall and how virial radius is decreasing due to tidal stripping. Efficiency of stripping mechanisms is highly sensitive to the model.

How faint can we go? With #ARRAKIHS + VIS2, we can detect #galaxy features as dim as 31 mag/arcsec² 🌌

Using mock images, we subtracted stars, cleaned backgrounds, and applied astnoisechisel to extract even the faintest signals.
