I feel like conventions as an entity (so not conscious yet with emergent behavior) are just kind of fine with cutting out artists earlier in their career, poor(er) artists, etc. They don’t make room for them; feels like you had to grow with cons to be in but onboarding today is BIG risk.

I like the lesson about how you don’t look over into your neighbor’s bowl to see if he has more rice than you. You glance into your neighbor’s bowl to make sure he has enough rice to eat.

This makes my blood boil because disability accommodations must be REASONABLE. It’s not reasonable for you to have a tool in public you literally can’t clean up after. A service dog should impact as close to nobody as possible.

I have no bad feels about this it’s just kind of darkly amusing. Like “oh no Palaeo’s talking about another collie better move some money around or start taking bets”.

I raised my first service dog during a nervous breakdown and my second during Covid. Looks like I’m raising a third during either a new war or economic disaster that has like five angles.

I wonder what it’s like to raise a working dog during prosperity instead of meltdown.

I’ll be getting back to folks this week. I hate it but ended up at urgent care. Thankfully with antibiotics & prednisone I can actually breathe now & have turned the corner. Ever since Covid I can’t get a little sick I apparently can only get nuclear sick. Bombadil’s training life starts this week.

I’m utterly blessed Tom Bombadil is an absurdly good puppy. All puppies are challenging, but he wants so badly to learn and copies the energy you give.

Which is fantastic because I am sick as a dog. Day 3 of being bedbound with body aches, chills, swelled shut sinuses, and now chest congestion.

—and while we tried to isolate I still got gotten. Traveling to and from puppy pickup we were just unavoidably trapped in a transmission bubble. I’m sleeping when puppy does and if it goes like my partner’s cold it’ll be over in a week.

Sorry about the lack of art and commission and patterns. Tom Bombadil is a fantastic puppy. Exactly the work I expected. But I’m also getting sick again; this is the fourth time since August. Been to the doctor several times now for this and that and it’s all just bad luck. Partner got it first—

I couldn’t live without a smooth collie, but when people tell me they want one and haven’t had a dog before (with love) NO YOU DON’T! These guys are smarter than I am.

I’ve already removed it, but it’s tape meant to encourage their ears to tip. They often stand up completely straight otherwise. I like the way they look both ways; prick ears make them always look surprised. 🤣

I’m just glad that this is smooth collie 3 and overall dog 6; I feel like I can do the puppy stage in my sleep. I’m gonna blink and he’ll be all grown up.

Was excited to try making this from @palaeosinensis.com. Did the miniature version first. I think it turned out not to shabby. Fun to assemble!

Losing the battle against napping. I am SO tired, but I’m confident I can get him into a solid routine by the end of the week. He’s only a baby with all the struggles of being a baby, but he’s very attentive and responsive.

The “ugly stage” should be renamed to the “doubt and terror stage”. I can see where this is going; but boy does it feel bad when you hit Unwanted Problem Solving Time in such a big project.

Tom Bombadil is home and so immediately begins the incredibly unfair affair of potty training. Don’t go? Ten minutes in the boring box while I hang out next door and then try again. Repeat until potty outside success. Then fun time in the puppy safe living room.

You can’t just wield your folk magic willy nilly like that! 😂
