This is a social problem, not a technical one. It does not matter if your messenger of choice is uncensored and unlimited if it has no users. All these messengers: Telegram, Threema, Signal, even social networks like Twitter are all walled gardens. And walled gardens have this risk.

First of all it just comes across as a prick move. They lost everything.

Second, we need tighter regulations such that oligarchs cannot unilaterally decide to shut down your life for no reason.

Third, Signal is also centralised and vulnerable to the whims of Lord Moxie.

Yep! i have collected dozens of channels affected by this. My account also got limited recently and a porn group I ran was shut down.
