I love the tabloids. Here's a forecast for yesterday and today to be both excruciatingly cold, and excruciatingly warm.
It's fascinating how these media orgs get away with publishing both articles at the same time with headlines that are technically correct, but completely useless for anyone local.

I've found that UK homes are generally a weird half and half, and usually you'll come back from Asda with the wrong bulb!
Also, it depends on what bulbs you're looking for as for traditional bulbs BC22 is still really common, but getting a reasonably priced, good BC22 smart bulb can be a challenge.

If you're designing a light fitting for a ceiling or lamp, you should probably make it E27, not B22.
B22 fittings are more secure, but the big advantage of E27 fittings? Much easier to screw a lightbulb in.
Better than the hand dexterity required for B22 bulbs, and especially in the dark at night.

A quiet, but fantastic change – you'll now be eligible for a Disabled Person's Railcard if you have a concessionary bus pass or blue badge.
There's some plans to include AuDHD people as well in September, which will make train travel a lot more accessible.

Agreed. It was a simple and effective speech that cut to the key of what matters the most for voters in Gorton & Denton.
While I'm surprised it wasn't closer, and our Editor-in-Chief was right in predicting a Green win for Gorton & Denton, I don't think anyone was expecting such an outright win.
It's still terrifying that Reform came second though and we could just as easily see this swing if we rest on our laurels.
Results for 2026 by-election for the Gorton & Denton constituency:
Green GAIN from Labour by 4,402 votes (12.0%)
1. Green Party, Hannah Spencer, 14980 votes (40.6%)
2. Reform UK, Matt Goodwin, 10578 votes (28.7%)
3. Labour Party, Angeliki Stogia, 9364 votes (25.4%)
Turnout: 47.62% (36,903 voters)
Matt Goodwin is currently kicking off about the election, blaming "Islamists" and "progressives telling people how to vote" - we understand he now has the election results in private early as per election procedure for all candidates.
Expect Reform to kick off in the media for the next few days.

Looks like there is no recount expected for Denton. This suggests a very likely Green win.
Gorton & Denton election results are likely to come shortly, likely within the hour. The podium is now being set up.
A Green or Reform win likely would be a massive problem for Labour and could impact their performance in the May elections.
I imagine Starmer is absolutely horrified at the moment.
CORRECTION:
We earlier reported that the turnout for the 2024 Denton and Gorton election was 46.8% in 2024, not 47.8%.
The correct figure was published earlier but got changed due to an unfortunate edit. The 47.62% figure for this by-election was reported correctly.
We apologise for our mistake.
It's pretty amusing to watch all the parties bicker over Gorton & Denton as to whether they've won or lost.
It's all air. Nobody knows who won until the results are officially confirmed.
Any one candidate would be looking at ballots, which could be entirely unrepresentative of the certified count.
Really hoping we don't see a Reform MP get into Gorton & Denton in Greater Manchester. There's been a bunch of allegations around voter fraud too.
Any result we see later today, will be disputed, no matter the outcome.
