New status update! Responding to unbridged users, domain blocklists, big speedups, reliability improvements, @standard.site, and more.
We're excited to launch our most-requested Bridgy Fed feature: being able to interact with unbridged users!
Starting today, when people interact with you on the other side of the bridge, you'll get a notification over DM along with a "respond" link, where you can like, repost, reply, or block.
For our first launch of the year, we're kicking off with more blocking features!
Rolling out today: ATProto across Bluesky, Blacksky, and any other PDS can apply domain blocklists to Bridgy Fed. Blocks come with if you Bounce, and we even added a handy list of reputable blocklists to choose from.
It's hard to believe, but Bridgy is 14 years old today. I launched the first version of it way back in 2012. Happy birthday, little project buddy! 🎂🎈🎉
Happy New Year! Hope you all had a good holiday. It’s shaping up to be a great year on the open social web!
We’ve been busy working on new features, internal improvements, bug fixes, and exploring new networks over the last couple months. Here are the noticeable […]

Heads up all, bridging to Bluesky isn’t working right now, their relay and/or appview aren’t ingesting our events. Still trying to figure out if we can do anything about it, or whether they need to nudge something on their side. Sorry for the trouble, hope to get it sorted out soon!
Bridging has been a bit slower than usual, on and off, for the last few days. Apologies all! It should be mostly back to normal now, we’ve put some workarounds in place, and we expect to have a more permanent fix within a day or two. Sorry for the trouble, thank you for your patience with us!
A mini follow-up to this mini-launch: bridged Bluesky/Blacksky/any ATProto users can now use all of Bridgy Fed's blocking features right from our settings page!
Check it out here: fed.brid.gy/settings

Bridgy Fed spotted at #IETF124!
We have a mini launch today with two new blocking features on Bridgy Fed:
1. For ATProto and ActivityPub, you can now use the "block" DM command to block multiple users at once 🙅🏼♂️🙅🏼🙅🏼♀️
2. For ActivityPub, you can now subscribe to ATProto Block Lists over the bridge 📃🚫

And we're live! Starting today, you can use Bounce to migrate from Mastodon to an existing Bluesky, Blacksky, or any other ATProto account! Check it out: blog.anew.social/bounce-beta-...
We had some downtime bridging to Bluesky last night, roughly 10:30-15:30 UTC. Back up and running as of a couple hours ago. Bridging from Bluesky, and between web and fediverse, were unaffected. Apologies for the outage!
Will investigate, feel free to follow […]
monitoring dashboard with graphs for user count, receive/send/ATProto serve/ATProto consume delays, tasks run, and processing delays
monitoring dashboard with graphs for task results, task queues, CPU, and memory
monitoring dashboard with graphs for receive protocols, types, source instances, and ATProto firehose commits
monitoring dashboard with graphs for unsupported activities and sent activities by protocol and type
A glimpse into the Bridgy Fed monitoring dashboards. Pretty conventional mix of infra, OS, and app level metrics.
Note the delay numbers. When you do something in one network, how quickly do we bridge it across? We pay a lot of attention to that, we try hard to keep it as fast as possible!
Hi everyone! We’ve been working on a few big projects since our last status update, but we’ve also made progess on smaller improvements and bug fixes for Bounce and Bridgy Fed. Here are the noticeable Bridgy Fed changes since last time.
* When a bridged user receives a DM, reply and say “DMs […]
Today, we're launching a feature that a number of Bridgy Fed users have been asking for: notifications for unbridged interactions.
You can learn more about how we've done this while also preserving the privacy of the unbridged user in our latest blog post: blog.anew.social/launch-dm-no...
I've been paying for Bridgy Fed myself, out of pocket, since the beginning. I'm happy to, and I'll continue to, but it's not cheap. We have big ideas and plans for the future, and funding is our main blocker. Please help if you can!
Today, we're launching the first Beta of Bounce, a tool that lets you migrate your social graph across protocols!
We got such a positive response from our announcement, and we're so excited for folks to try it out.
Here's what you need to know when you Bounce: blog.anew.social/bounce-beta-...
New status update! We have big projects and features cooking, but there’s still lots of good stuff in here: broader fediverse delivery, fix for replies (etc) that occasionally don’t make it to Bluesky, web UI improvements, account links, fediverse interop fixes, and more. Enjoy!
Got another new post! Bridging identity with account links. They’re a simple, modular way to connect your various accounts and posts across the open social web. Bridgy Fed supports them, and we’d love to see other apps and platforms adopt them too.
Feedback is welcome. And support us on Patreon!
New blog post! Bridging vs cross-posting. They’re similar, but bridged conversations tend to be more unified across networks, while cross-posting ends up more fragmented.
Feedback is welcome! And friendly reminder, if you appreciate what you do here, feel free to check out our Patreon!
Two big launches today 🚀
You can now change your bridging settings on the Bridgy Fed website for your Bluesky, Mastodon, and Pixelfed accounts (Threads soon as well).
We're also launching our Patreon today! We're currently fully self-funded, so we appreciate all of your support 🫶🏼
Hi everyone! Time for a Bridgy Fed status update. We have a lot of new features and bug fixes to announce since the last time, so here we go!
* Added a web-based UI for enabling and configuring the bridge for your accounts.
* Added support for fediverse split domain mode, ie when your […]
Hi all! We never got into the habit of posting here regularly, but we’re going to start now. We have things to tell you! Bridgy Fed updates, new projects, other news. We don’t plan to post often, maybe once a week or so at most, but feel free to unfollow if you want, your account will keep bridging.
Hi all! We had some downtime for Bluesky => fediverse last night, starting 10:15p PT, and fediverse => Bluesky this morning 7-10a PT ish. We've worked through the backlog and should be back to normal now. Sorry for the trouble!
Pro tip: you can find a bridged fediverse user by searching for their address (eg @gargron@mastodon.social) or profile URL (eg https://mastodon.social/@Gargron) here in Bluesky and then clicking the People tab. No need to figure out their translated Bluesky handle. Try it!
Finally managed to optimize our firehose processing from ~200 events/s up to 3-4k/s. Bluesky => fediverse bridging backlog is down from its high of 3d to just 18h now, should be caught up and back to realtime in another 5h or so.
Thanks for your patience, all, apologies again for the delay!
Bridgy Fed is struggling to handle the recent flood of new Bluesky users. 10-20x usage increase, wow!
Fediverse => Bluesky is still bridging ok, but Bluesky => fediverse is well over a day behind. It'll take me some time to optimize it enough to handle the new load. Apologies for the delay!
