The bulk of the money Missouri gives to its crisis pregnancy centers comes from federal funds meant to assist families experiencing poverty with basic necessities and childcare. Crisis pregnancy centers are mostly religious nonprofits that have a mission of preventing people from having an abortion.
I am originally from Kansas and got tricked into going to one of those places back in like 07. They made me take a pair of pink knitted booties knowing full well I was assaulted, lost, and would be getting an abortion. It was so fucked.
it's okay to socially ostracize parents who won't vaccinate themselves or their children, in fact we should be doing it as a rule

As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. Itβs often said you never know when youβre living through history, so let me assure you: thatβs whatβs happening now.
Sheriβs Ranch responded to the petition for union recognition by firing workers Jupiter Jetson, Molly Wylder, Paloma Karr, Adalind Gray, Genevieve Dahl, and Gwen Bunny.
The union will be fighting their unlawful terminations, but for now, they need our support: www.gofundme.com/f/support-sh...

They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.
If youβre labor-curious and wondering where to start:
β’ show up when faith groups host worker justice events
β’ support interfaith worker centers
β’ invite clergy to labor panels and rallies
β’ build relationships before moments of crisis
Movement-building is relational work!
Faith communities can also reach people labor spaces sometimes struggle to reach: elders, immigrants, caregivers, and workers in informal sectors who may not see themselves reflected in traditional union outreach
There are real opportunities here:
β¨ worker rights education hosted in faith spaces
β¨ strike solidarity + mutual aid networks
β¨ sanctuary & immigrant worker protections
β¨ clergy speaking publicly in support of organizing campaigns
β¨ faith-based pressure on employers + policymakers
For progressive folks who arenβt religious: itβs about coalition rather than doctrine. Many faith leaders see labor justice as part of their moral calling and many workers experience workplace struggles through a moral or spiritual lens even if theyβre not really religious
Faith communities also fill a practical gap. Workers facing retaliation, immigration fears, or economic need trusted spaces outside of work. Faith institutions can provide meeting space, food, childcare, transportation, and emotional support that organizing requires
Why does this connection make sense? Different language but similar values as both faith traditions and labor movements often center β’ dignity β’ care for the vulnerable β’ fairness in daily life β’ community responsibility over individualism
Some of the most important labor fights were nurtured in churches, mosques, synagogues, and temples. Clergy marched with sanitation workers in Memphis, farmworkers held meetings in parish halls, and immigrant worker centers still rely on faith spaces for organizing today
A lot of people assume labor organizing is purely economic or political. But historically, faith spaces have been moral infrastructure for worker movements: places where people gathered, built trust, shared resources, and developed courage to act collectively
Something that doesn't get talked about too often: the deep, ongoing relationship between faith communities and the labor movement
