There was definitely more than should have been in Inscription Canyon as well but my overall feeling was there was way more in Black Canyon. Maybe the actual spray painted graffiti skewed my feelings.

Way too easy to get to coming from the Barstow side. The result is a lot of new vandalism mixed in with the old rock art. People are stupid😐 For a less stupified experience I'd suggest Inscription Canyon on the other side of the mountain.

Sometimes things look bigger on the satellite view:) Like this spot. It wasn't until I got to the top of this steep, off-camber trail that I realized there was no way I was going to be able to level the van to camp here OR turn around to get back down.

Scouts Cove, the site of an old opal mine, was a fun place to get to. The trail in from the North was a lot sketchy in a big top heavy van but the South entrance is easy. The old mining cabin carved out of a tufa dome is probably the best looking manmade cave I've ever seen.

Finally made it out to the Husky Memorial after having it pinned on my map for a couple of years. I love how stuff like this starts from one small thing and then grows organically into something even bigger.

Dry lake beds will always be my favorite. They may not be as crazy looking as someplace like Alabama Hills or Trona Pinnacles but there's just something special and weirdly safe feeling about being on one, especially at night.
