I forgot to post this but I read ‘The Lathe of heaven’ for the first time a while ago and I enjoyed it. Very interesting, unpredictable book. Dr Haber is a really well written character.

My novel passed 10k words today. I wrapped up the first big arc in the story and am steaming ahead with the process and enjoying writing more than I ever have.

Built some great momentum with writing and made huge progress in the last few days. Hoping to keep this going for as long as I can. The goal next week will be write over 2.5k words. Really enjoyed today’s session.

Back from holiday now so writing will be more consistent. Today was my first day back at it and I’m very happy with how it went. I’m coming to the end of a huge story arc so I’m excited to see how it plays out. Made good progress today.

There’s two main parts to this story and the first one is nearly complete. Loads of good progress. Hoping to get another thousand words done soon. It’ll be interesting for me too because I’ve no idea what’ll happen next lol.

I think I’ve come up with the name of the novel, I’m not quite sure yet though. I’ll have to see how I feel about it down the line.

I’m gonna be going into a writing monk mode for the next week. I am hoping to nearly double the quality and productivity of what I already have.

I have finished writing the first five chapters of my novel! It’s going really well. I’ve gotten a lot of writing done lately.

I’m at a very exciting point because I’m in the process of writing the part of the novel I’m most interested in. These next few chapters is why I’ve decided to write this story. Making good progress so far.

Finished ‘The ocean at the end of the lane’ recently.

It’s the first book I’ve read by Neil Gaiman and I was absolutely enthralled the whole way through. It’s mind blowing how he made a simple lane feel so expansive and rich. Definitely give this a read.

Been a while since the last update but I’m still writing. I am on the fifth chapter and starting to see a story forming. I’m very excited to write the next part. Hoping to get a lot more done over the next week.

I love the cover. It looks like a surrealist ps2 game or something, it’s really cool.

Finished ‘The sailor who fell from grace with the sea’.

This book is great all around. I loved how simplistic and dense the concise setting was. The ending was amazing too. Nothing bad to say about it. I recommend it if you’re looking for a short read.

Adjusted the first chapter slightly, done revising it now until I finish the first draft. Really enjoying watching little traits become full characters now. It’s become such a fun process.

Learned a harsh lesson this morning. As a discovery writer I was going to have to swallow that my first draft sucks every single time I write something new. The lesson is, that it’s completely okay. Because I can fix that shit later.

No much work done today but progress is progress.

Steaming along with the novel, it’s been interesting because I found out I wrote one of the middle chapters first and I had to go back in time lol. 2500 words strong.

The crazy part is I’m more connected to this character already than any character I wrote about in my previous attempt at a novel, and that was nearly 5k words long for reference.

I started writing a new novel this morning. This idea excites me much more and already feels better to write. I finished the first chapter and it’s nearly 800 words long. Not sure what genre it falls into, maybe surrealist portal fantasy? I’ll post more progress reports here soon.

NEW NOVEL

I finished Great Gatsby for the first time.

This book has the most beautiful prose of any book I have ever read. The story was not really anything special though. Its imagery and language carried it. I can see why it’s a classic but that story wasn’t for me.

Had to shelf this story. I had a great idea for the world that excited me but it’s not going to carry the story right now. There’s another idea I have, a more full idea, that I’m way more excited to write about so I’m jumping ship to that.
