It's to keep Dems who'd be willing to run in an open field but not against an incumbent from being able to file to run.

He says approximately 57 things that would have ended Joe Bidenβs presidency daily.

always stupider on Friday because everyone's gone home for the weekend so our bigly special boy is left to his down devices as the sundowning starts
And the tattoo meaning so much to him that he was willing to leave the military to keep it.
He was forced out of the military because they did tattoo inspection and he was told he could either not be on active duty or he could get rid of the tattoo. Even if you wanted to extend him infinite grace on how the tattoo came about in the first place, you'd still have him knowingly keeping it.
So at ~$10 a person, with even just two people there's good odds you're breaking even on an Uber vs taking BART.
tbf SL to Dulles isn't because of an airport surcharge, just the combination of how far out Dulles is with distance based fares. The BART surcharge at SFO is a way bigger offender, it basically doubles the cost of the ride and SFO is so close to the city that unless it's rush hour an Uber's like $20
Absurd headways despite being fucking automated! There's no drivers to pay!
Because it was built during a time where the rules on federal funding for airport improvements basically dictated this kind of system by how the "only for stuff at the airport, not general infrastructure" rules were structured. That only finally got repealed a few years ago.
Once again, it is a scandal that it is free to drive to the airport terminal door but the air train costs a very high fare ON TOP of whatever fare you paid to get the air train. And just bad policy!
Maybe not quite cheaper, but add the subway or LIRR fare 4x and you're talking close enough that it starts to look pretty reasonable to shell out a little bit more for the car.
That last one in particular, they clearly are not fucking serious about people actually paying for the AirTrain when they're putting out those kind of comms and I'm going to respond accordingly.
I'm normally a "just pay the fucking fare" guy but I just walk through at the AirTrain at Jamaica unless there's cops looking. It's the whole combination of no charge to drive onto airport property while the PA puts out comms telling people what stations to use to avoid paying.
Still wild to me that if you take the AirTrain from the terminal to pick up a rental car at Federal Circle it's free, but if you take it to the subway or LIRR it costs an ever-increasing amount of money.
The AirTrain fare is just for the AirTrain. You still have to pay at least $3 more (subway from Jamaica). A $2.50 surcharge is modest in comparison.
The AirTrain fare is apparently now $8.75, up a quarter as of today-ish I guess. What a racket.
