They sat there, feeling happy together.
They sat there, feeling happy together.
He stopped suddenly and stared fixedly up over my head into the air. The lamp beat upon his face, and so intent was it and so still that it might have been that of a clear-cut classical statue, a personification of alertness and expectation.
Holmes: [looks at something]
Watson: They should make a statue of him, he is the greatest art in this gallery
Reading your posts makes me realise I should describe Holmes's appearance far more in my Watson POV fanfiction. Like, way more
fallen a victim to his plot. I told you in London, Watson, and I tell you now again, that we have never had a foeman more worthy of our steel."

"But why keep me in the dark?" "For you to know could not have helped us and might possibly have led to my discovery. You would have wished to tell me something, or in your kindness you would have brought me out some comfort or other, and so an unnecessary risk would be run.
(Imagine me typing this the angriest Iโve ever been) He actually already did that, in a storm, on a moor people frequently get lost and injured on, because you *didnโt tell him you were here.*
I just watched an adaptation and the sentence did not affect me that much at all at first, but then I thought about this connection about a minute later and had to rewind to properly feel it.
I thought that you were in Baker Street working out that case of blackmailing." "That was what I wished you to think." "Then you use me, and yet do not trust me!" I cried with some bitterness. "I think that I have deserved better at your hands, Holmes."
Iโm 100% certain that this is the fight they had in Empty House but Watson didnโt feel able to publish in Empty House.
"I never was more glad to see anyone in my life," said I as I wrung him by the hand. "Or more astonished, eh?" "Well, I must confess to it."
Itโs so manipulative Doyle published this scene after the fans have had Holmes dead for a decade and they have no idea Empty House is coming.
Yeah, Watson sure WOULD be glad to see Holmes again, but heโs DEAD ๐
I stooped under the rude lintel, and there he sat upon a stone outside, his gray eyes dancing with amusement as they fell upon my astonished features. He was thin and worn, but clear and alert, his keen face bronzed by the sun and roughened by the wind. In his tweed suit and cloth cap he looked like any other tourist upon the moor, and he had contrived, with that catlike love of personal cleanliness which was one of his characteristics, that his chin should be as smooth and his linen as perfect as if he were in Baker Street.
Watson pausing to let us know how handsome and charming Holmes looked
Watson simply does not want to be in charge of a case! He wants Holmes to come save him

I hope people aren't too tired of the Holmes Leyendecker studies because I have another one, ft Toby c:

There used to be an old sign by the path, warning passers-by of the local sleeping willow, which would trap the unwary with fatigue, engulf them while they slept, and release them a hundred years later.
There was a new sign:
"This sleeping willow is full."
And a map of other locations to try.
