Last year Cornwall Council appointed the director of an Israeli-owned military equipment company to chair its Economic Forum.
The conversation this led to was whether it’s useful or not to deem self-defence ‘not violent’. Whether it benefits to say “yes, this is violent, but look at what we’re up against”. A conclusion was to talk about oppressor and oppressed rather than violent/ non-violent/ not violent and self defence.
Politics is spoken of as if it has no impact on our bodies, as if backs don’t bend and feet don’t bleed and stomachs don’t grumble and heads don’t spin with every decision made at the seat of power. Hunger and pain is spoken of as bad economies.

A stand-off this morning in Falmouth between residents, police and contractors over the felling of healthy lime trees. Cornwall Council refusing to release the report as to why the trees are being felled. Postponed again due to two protesters climbing the trees after police threatened arrest.

This isn’t allowing access to wind spaces, it is extending the rule of enclosure to those with money to pay for this access. It’s an exclusivity model that continues to separate people from the land. Right to roam means a right to roam for all.
