2) Trump's base wants him to arrest A LOT of enemies right now. But a goodly number of their desired targets will make fairly compelling martyrs around which to form a resistance.
But other things, like the tariffs, will be like his China trade war: bad policies that you cannot do well.
Two points about Trump's admin.
1) There's a different between being incompetent and competently pursuing bad policies that will have detrimental effects. Mass deportation will get caught up on BOTH: it's hard to deport efficiently, BUT ALSO, it will drive up food and housing costs.
