Some days I wake up and am like “I would like more E today, can I just have some extra as a treat?” But I’m too much of a rule follower to actually do that.
In software specifically, I see folks talking about how AI is better at writing go - a language that eschews abstraction because it’s easy for google to hire people who can just deal with it.
It’s not about solving hard problems, it’s about noticing the patterns we couldn’t be bothered to solve because capitalism made it cheaper to just pay people to wade through the menial bullshit.
This applies to art and writing too. Why is AI great at arguing with scammers or getting insurance to pay you? Those are both menial, BS tasks.
AI pushes our systems towards bullshit jobs and menial crud. That it works so well for so many software problems is an indicator that most of our abstractions for software suck and require a lot of menial glue to get held together.

Today I got confirmation from a friend that their house burned to the ground in the fires in LA. Chaparral wants to burn, and these fires have been in some of the most difficult conditions for firefighting. My heart aches for all those impacted.
as a disabled & depressed person, I’ve developed a lot of skills in finding & communicating with health professionals. I’ve helped multiple people close to me (in different states!) find doctors, therapists, etc. if I offered consulting services around this would that be of interest to folks?

Once again the crows have radicalized against the hawks and bald eagles (neither of whom give a shit about crows other than to think they are annoying). They try to dive bomb the big birds, and the big birds just look at them like “buzz off”
