Tomorrow, my students and I begin Zora Neale Hurston’s masterpiece. This is my favorite novel to read and teach and this is the most perfect first page in all of literature.

2) getting a masters of education from Harvard is not better than a law degree from the state you wanna work for

Nothing about Talarico was better than Crockett: he’s not better educated, better prepared, or better qualified.

He’s just a white guy who quotes scripture (instead of the law) and I’m blown away that so many people think that’s enough.
