One good thing I will say for Spectrum: I was dreading have to call them to cancel service, but the sales rep was really nice and understanding. He didn't try to bullshit me or beg me to stay, asked about the issues I'd had with Spectrum and was able to quickly disconnect my Spectrum service.

The Spectrum router had been in the office (which was good because it meant I could plug Ethernet into my PC) but the tech was able to plug one end of the existing coaxial cable into the router and the other into a WiFi extender in the office, so it worked out great. No complaints so far.

The installation was fairly painless. I was worried since I'm in an apartment, but the Verizon tech just came Thursday morning, drilled a hole in the wall (right next to the hole for the Spectrum cable) and ran Fiber from a box in the backyard into the living room where he set up the router.

UPDATE: I switched to FiOS last week and then canceled Spectrum. It's been great so far. I'm paying $75/mo for 1 gig service, which really is about 900Mbps speed over Ethernet for both uploading and downloading, though it's a bit slower (~700Mbps) over WiFi.

It’s surprising because it had seemed like Saudi Arabia was becoming more concerned about Israel than Iran over the last year or two. Supporting an illegal US/Israeli war on Iran seems like a bit shift in strategy.

As previously reported, the items seized on the boat included weapons, such as assault rifles, sniper rifles, pistols, Molotov cocktails, and multiple pieces of assault equipment, including night vision equipment, bulletproof vests, assault bayonets, camouflage clothing, ammunition of various calibers, combat rations, communication equipment, and a large number of insignia from counterrevolutionary terrorist organizations. This information is still preliminary. More details will be provided in the coming days. This is not an isolated incident. Cuba has been the victim of attacks and countless terrorist acts for more than 60 years, most of which have been organized, financed, and carried out from the territory of the United States.

In recent years, Cuban authorities have denounced the increase in violent and terrorist plans and actions against Cuba, and the sense of impunity that prevails among the organizers and perpetrators in the face of inaction against them. Cuba says it was in communication with the U.S. Coast Guard amid the speedboat attack and is exchanging information.

Cuba also says it reported two of the terrorists to the US in 2023 and 2025 but the U.S. didn’t act on the information.
