The reason people I saw were recommending switching over from Youtube to FreeTube was due to the AI Age Verification thing. Which is a good reason to move but what you're basically doing is just using an ad block on age restricted YouTube but as an app at that point.
The first time I try and use FreeTube again after dropping it for blocking me from watching an Age-Restricted video and it doesn't even fucking work lmao
