Noem may be gone, but the fight to restore accountability at DHS is far from over.
Noem may be gone, but the fight to restore accountability at DHS is far from over.
Families were torn apart, people were detained in dangerous conditions, and lives were lost β all in the name of policies that betray our nationβs values.
Under her leadership, DHS squandered taxpayer dollars for luxury travel and brutal immigration enforcement while disaster aid stalled and real homeland security priorities were ignored.
Kristi Noemβs removal from office was long overdue. Her tenure at DHS was defined by chaos, a blatant disregard for the Constitution, and egregious efforts to mislead the American people.
The American people do not want another endless war in the Middle East.

I hope for a future in Iran where its citizens can live freely and without fear. But lasting peace and stability will not be forged by an administration that does not have the support of the American people, has no defined objective, and therefore no strategy to achieve it.
Unsurprisingly, House Republicans blocked this critical resolution, once again surrendering their power and responsibility to a corrupt and reckless administration.
I voted yes on this War Powers Resolution to restore Congressβs constitutional authority and solemn responsibility to decide if and when the United States goes to war.
Without a coherent plan or clear path forward, Donald Trump has pushed the United States toward yet another costly war in the Middle East that has already claimed the lives of six American servicemembers and an untold number of innocent civilians.
Our troops deserve serious, steady leadership, and not impulsive actions that put their lives on the line. When we send Americans into harmβs way, it must be with purpose, accountability, and a clear path forward, and not reckless escalation that costs lives.
My heart is with the families and loved ones mourning the sacrifice of the three American servicemembers who lost their lives in the escalating conflict in Iran. Their courage will never be forgotten.
The American people do not want another open-ended war. Congress must assert its constitutional authority immediately.

Iranβs regime represses its own people, sponsors terrorism, fuels regional violence, and poses real threats to U.S. interests and our allies. But those realities do not erase the Constitution or grant any President the power to sidestep Congress.
By launching these strikes, Donald Trump has thrust the United States into war without approval from Congress. These strikes are outside the scope of his authority and put our nation and our allies at serious risk.
Preemptive U.S. military action against Iran not only endangers our troops, it risks further destabilizing an already volatile region and igniting a broader conflict.
This reckless escalation comes after his unilateral withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. He has never presented a coherent strategy to confront Iranβs malign activities. As a result, the United States and our allies are less safe today.
Donald Trumpβs decision to launch strikes against Iran without Congressional authorization is a blatant violation of the Constitution and a dangerous abuse of executive power.
I stand firmly with Ukraine. I support its sovereignty and independence because defending Ukraine and its freedom is essential to building a more secure, stable, and free world.
For four years, the Ukrainian people have endured relentless attacks and unimaginable loss. Families displaced. Cities destroyed. Lives stolen. Yet their courage and resolve have not wavered.
This week marks four years since Russia launched its illegal invasion of Ukraine, a brutal assault on a democratic nation, international law, and global security.
Black history is American history. It is not confined to one month. It lives in our institutions, fuels movements for justice, and guides our work to build a more equitable future for all.
As Black History Month comes to a close, we honor the resilience, legacy, and history of Black Americans. Our nation is stronger because of the leadership, extraordinary achievements, and cultural contributions of Black communities across generations that have shaped every chapter of our story.
I will continue to stand up to this administrationβs abuses and fight to make the American Dream real and attainable for the people I was elected to serve.

I refuse to be complicit, and I will not legitimize a man who shows so little respect for the pillars and values upon which our nation was founded.
We are living with the consequences of a self-serving agenda enabled by Republicans in Congress who have chosen loyalty to one man over their oath to the Constitution.
Instead of addressing the true state of our union, he deflected from the chaos and cruelty of his administration and distorted reality to mask his failure to deliver for the American people.
In what is now the longest State of the Union address on record, Donald Trump delivered divisive rhetoric, empty platitudes, and blatant falsehoods.
The American people deserve the full truth. We demand transparency. And we will not stop until there is real accountability and justice for every survivor.
No speech can erase what happened. No political theater can bury the truth. With the eyes of the country watching, President Trump will not be able to turn away from the injustices his administration has tried to conceal.
I am proud to stand with these courageous women and with my Democratic Womenβs Caucus colleagues in support of full transparency and accountability.
