From an organisational perspective, this means providing meaningful career opportunities and continuing to invest in women across the workplace. Thatβs why weβve written this blogβto explore the significance of International Womenβs Day and highlight the ways we support womenβs career progression.
The theme of this yearβs IWD is βGive to Gainβ β encouraging generosity, collaboration and collective action to drive gender equality. When people, organisations and communities give support, share knowledge and challenge bias, everyone benefits.
Today marks International Womenβs Day (IWD), an annual global occasion on 8 March that celebrates and commemorates the amazing, resilient and awe inspiring women across the world.

This courage, in all its forms, deserves to be recognised and celebrated, and we canβt wait for June, when weβll come together to celebrate and connect through the courage that lives differently within every one of us.
Discover how you can take part this Refugee Week here: www.refugeeweek.org
Courage is different from person to person, but at Migrant Help we witness extreme amounts of courage every single day. The strength, bravery and resilience shown by those rebuilding lives stolen from themβoften in the most challenging of circumstancesβnever fails to take our breath away.
Image shows the word 'Courage' 6 times in orange, with a Refugee Week logo at the bottom right!
Looking forward to Refugee Week (15β21 June 2026), weβve been reflecting on this yearβs theme of βCourageβ and what it means to us at Migrant Help.

Blending Palestinian folklore with real testimonies from children in Gaza, A Grain of Sand is a moving story of resilience, hope, and the right of children to simply be children.

This powerful oneβwoman show follows Renad, an 11βyearβold Gazan girl embarking on a dangerous journey to find her family, carrying with her only the echoes of her grandmotherβs stories and the spark of her own imagination.
If youβre in the Glasgow area next Friday (13 March) or Saturday (14 March), be sure to check out @goodchancetheatre.bsky.socialβs production of 'A Grain of Sand' at the Citizens Theatre!

However you choose to take part β by organising an event, joining one hosted by others, or taking action on your own β you can be part of a movement that shows how small steps can lead to big change.
For anyone unfamiliar, Simple Acts are small, everyday actions anyone can take to create connections and support refugees.
Sir Quentin Blake β the beloved cartoonist, caricaturist, illustrator and childrenβs writer β has illustrated over 300 books, including nearly 20 by Roald Dahl. Now, his bright and playful drawings will be bringing this yearβs Simple Acts campaign to life!
Super exciting news!
@refugeeweek.bsky.social has collaborated with the marvellous Quentin Blake for Refugee Week 2026 (15β21 June) and this yearβs theme of Courage.
Now two weeks into both holy periods, however youβre observing this season β through fasting, prayer, quiet, or small acts of kindness β weβre wishing you peace, clarity and connection.
For everyone, observing or not, whatβs been on your mind to reflect on lately?
#Ramadan #Lent #Reflection
In a time of polarisation and a sea of skewed, false and hurtful narratives, this reflection can help us slow down, listen more deeply, and act with care and compassion.
As Ramadan and Lent continue side by side, many people across the country are pausing and looking inward β recentring on compassion, truth and community.
