That one always makes me giggle.
Meerkats, they watch out for each other.
Ants, they watch out for each other.
Penguins, they watch out for each other.
I might have a type π
I wrote a piece about these, if you fancy reading it drop me an email to info@limerickslife.com and I'll send it on.
Also, we're trying to get people to call it by it's proper name Limerick Castle so peope know we have one (saints didn't have castles π)
I do have info on it π
As the designated driver at all events I approve this message.
Getting a bonus post this month for #iwd2026
Only 2 women have ever been elected to the DΓ‘il for Limerick City.

Black and white photograph of graveyard in front Cathedral in back and large wall with curved entrance on right of image
St Mary's Cathedral, Limerick before 1890. The back wall of the Exchange building is still in place. Today the graveyard has extended into this space. Image probably taken by Robert French.
It's just so frustrating. I know they would enjoy the stories too if they just let themselves.
Gave a talk on stories of Limerick women this evening. There was only one man in the audience.
Whenever I give a talk about women in history men seem to be absent as opposed to when I giving a talk about any other history topic and they are the majority. Why is that?
Got a Brother one a few years ago when I got sick of buying ink

It always seems like something from the distant past until quotes like that are involved and we remember they were just people too.
That'll do it!

New podcast episode out in the morning. You can catch up on the last month's episode here.
It is the 1st of the month.... you know what that means!! Only 2 women have ever been elected to the DΓ‘il for Limerick City in the history of the State (1 before we were a Republic). And in County Limerick? Zero, Ziltch, Nada, Not a one... ever!
I've seen this movie, it doesn't bode well for humans.
This is fantastic news!!!! Delighted for you!
An audience watches two women talk on two separate couches. To the left an interpreter signs the conversation.
An audience watches a sign language choir of six women dressed in black.
In the foreground there is a bed with a multi-colored quilt. In the mid-ground an audience watches a woman talking. In the background there are two paintings of women.
Four women dressed in black sing and play ukuleles.
As we prepare to announce our programme for International Women's Day, we look back on events hosted in previous years.
One of our highlights has been our partnership with Women's Collective Ireland - Limerick, who we've been working with consistently for the last decade.

All this is so funny cos there's not a *scrap* of evidence for this whole "AI will take everyone's job!" hysteria. Sure, some idiots who'll believe anything any snake oil salesman tells them will fire some people before everyone cops the fuck on, but then everyone will cop the fuck on
Proofing all day while trying to avoid throwing my laptop.
I have panel text for an exhibition to complete today and I would rather be doing absolutely anything else!
It was the world's loss. I like to remind people he was here.
He kept that smile π
He would fill any room he walked into π
You would have found him hilarious π
Aren't we just the cutiest!
Sharon and Con as adorable children
My brother Con is dead 10 years today. Still talk to him daily but he doesn't answer back. Wonder what he would have made of the last decade, though I know he'd have thought it was all ridiculous.
You're not wrong. Today though I'm too happy with the news to poke holes in it. It is a big step for those of us screaming about women in history for years. Tomorrow though, that's a different story π
