I make a living writing science fiction and fantasy. Mostly fantasy. It's been said I've never met a trope I didn't skewer. I'm good with that. Also, there's cats. And knitting. she/her

Digital cover, text and a bright green lizard, in upper left. Bright green lizard from the cover in upper right.

The lizard had no idea it was being observed as it lay on top of the low coral wall, its mouth slightly open, its eyes unfocused golden jewels. Its only concern was with the warmth of the spring sun - not that the spring sun was much different
from the winter sun.
"The real difference," Magdelene explained every spring to a variety of sweating guests, "is that it goes from being hot to being damned hot."
"How can you stand it?" one visitor had panted, languidly fanning himself with a palm leaf.
Magdelene's grey eyes had crinkled at the corners. "I like it hot." The visitor, a handsome young nobleman who'd been sent south by his father until a small social infraction blew over, spent the rest of his life wondering if he'd misunderstood.

Today's word is OPEN. Today's #Bookqw from eCollection THIRD TIME LUCKY & Other Stories of the Most Powerful Wizard in the World (also the laziest but the title was already long enough). Like Magdelene, I'm so done with winter...

I finally got hit by the Bookclub Scammer -- I was starting to feel a bit left out. Apparently, it's so hard to find my contact info that they sent the email to another author and asked her to forward it. I think I feel flattered that they so desperately wanted to scam me...

Born in '57 but have no memory of any Cold War...anything here in Canada. Although there's a chance I just wasn't paying attention.

WELL NOW, would you look at that?

A massive, 26-YEAR-LONG study of MORE THAN 2.4 MILLION people in Sweden found found NO EVIDENCE to support a causal link between acetaminophen (the API in Tylenol) use during pregnancy and increased risk of autism, ADHD, OR intellectual disability in children.

You can acknowledge that the Iranian regime is brutal and repressive and at the same time say that it is unconscionably evil to attack Iran with no reason or provocation or approval from Congress. The statements are not contradictory. Both can be true.

I think a lot of Canadians rather desperately want Carney to be something other than a banker, but this thread is exactly right about who our Prime Minister is.

He's an economic calculator and that's about as far as his thinking appears to go.

If West Ham played the whole season like they're playing this 2nd half, they wouldn't be facing relegation. (I stand by that even though Liverpool just got a 4th goal.)

Cancelling trans people's driving licences in Kansas because some people insist gender is fixed at birth, and cancelling a Tennessee woman's sterilisation op because someone decided her fertility is 'sacred', is setting up precedents to justify anyone's opinion overruling everyone's human rights.

Along the right margin is the pie from the digital cover, the original DAW cover--shadow of a dragon on a store front--and the digital cover which has the afore mentioned pie entered on a pile of beats-the-hell-out-of-me over a red dragon tail.

It was one thing to know that dragons were big--in the same sort of way space was big, secure in the knowledge it was unlikely the entirety of either would ever have to be faced--and it was another thing entirely to stand and watch a dragon drop out of the night sky. Around fifteen meters from branching horns to the tip of a lashing tail, this particular dragon was ebony and gold, iridescent enchantment
and beautiful in the way of very, very dangerous things where admiration and terror became easy reactions to confuse.

Today's word is ADMIRE. Today's #BookQW from Enchantment Emporium, the first of three contemporary fantasies involving the Gale family--who aren't quite Human--and dragons--who aren't from around here.

Available as an ebook, Audible, or used. Shop indie if you can.
