Weβve filed to block a rule that would gut people's right to appeal bad decisions by immigration court judges.
This puts even more people at risk of wrongful deportations.

NEW from me for @immcouncil.orgβs blog: ICE is buying up warehouses around the country. I summarize ICEβs βDetention Reengineering Initiative,β laying out what we know about the Trump adminβs main plan to use the $45 billion they have for detention.

The number of people held in ICE detention on any given day rose by over 75% in 2025, with a record 73,000 people being held in detention as of mid-January.
And with Congress authorizing $45 billion in new detention funding, the system could more than triple in size over the next four years.
ICE is a rogue agency, terrorizing our communities with no accountability.
But itβs so much more than that. The entire immigration system is broken.
I spoke with one of the leaders in the fight to fix it, Jeremy Robbins, head of @immcouncil.org. Watch here: youtu.be/8ThLSy9o_Wk
This is incredible! Thank you so much for the support! π
When immigration enforcement agents show up at schools it has a chilling effect on children & communities.
As Nayna Gupta told Congressman Bobby Scott: Congress must enact clear restrictions to stop immigration enforcement in sensitive areas like schools, daycares, places of worship, & courthouses.

"This agenda is only going to get worse. The $150+ billion in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is enough to turn DHS into the size of a small foreign military and to increase the detention system of by the end of this year" - @naynagupta.bsky.social, Policy Director, @immcouncil.org
"There arenβt enough immigrants with serious criminal records to hit the White Houseβs deportation goals, so tens of thousands are locked up despite posing no public safety threat."

New from @immcouncil.org : How ICE Went Rogue.
We took flashpoints in ICE/CBP tactics and laid out how the admin is exploiting or undermining the law with policy & practice.
To build something better, we need to know how this one failed.

In just one year, the number of people in ICE detention has shot up by over 75%.
Aaron Reichlin-Melnick explains how immigration detention has become bigger, harsher, and less accountable than ever.

School should be a safe haven for children.
But for many immigrant families, sending a child to school has become an act of bravery as aggressive immigration enforcement fills communities with fear.

The Trump administration is rapidly expanding immigration detentionβwith virtually no transparency or accountability.
This massive expansion has been fueled by historic funding poured into ICE last year.

An @immcouncil.org report confirms what we've witnessed: a 2450% increase in the arrests and detention of people with no criminal history proves there is no "right way" to pursue legal status in this country. ICE is separating families and tearing people from their communities without cause.
Horrifying NEWS: βThese are incredibly straightforward cases,β attorney Rebekah Wolf, who is desperately fighting to save her clients from being sent to torture or death by getting a federal judge to stay the removal before tomorrowβs flight, told me this afternoon.

No immigration enforcement action should lead to death.
Rather than protect public safety, CBP and ICE are actively undermining it.
CBP, ICE, and DHS must halt these chaotic raids targeting American cities.
We are horrified by todayβs shooting in Minneapolis.
CBP and ICE are operating without any meaningful guardrails.
What we're seeing in Minneapolis are politicized, militarized, and unaccountable agencies creating chaos.
Our recent report details the chaos and cruelty behind family separations.
And without transparency and oversight, history could repeat itself.
Read more here:
The first Trump administrationβs βzero toleranceβ policy was a calculated system designed to deter migrants from coming to the U.S. by punishing families and obscuring accountability.
That same disregard for oversight and human consequences is re-emerging in the ongoing mass deportation efforts.
"Experts in dealing with children" don't treat children as targets of immigration enforcement actions.
Family separation under the first Trump administration didnβt happen by accident, it was a deliberate choice.
And the playbook behind family separation is a warning for our present moment.
The two men came to the United States in 2025 on asylum claims, after they were arrested by the Iranian βmorality policeβ for being gay years prior. In their home country, same-sex acts are crimes, punishable by death.

Our nation's children pay a steep price, too.
In communities with ICE activity, children are more likely to suffer from anxiety, suicidal thoughts, educational difficulties, and long-term economic instability.
