Any insurance premium increase from adding you can get zeroed out afterwards and insurance agent should be able to back date your coverage to the day you got the car; you can pay the difference to whoever owns the policy you piggybacked on for a few days but it should be minimal

Easiest thing to do is to be added as an occasional household driver (non-primary) to someone else's policy so their liability coverage applies to you, then you get the car with that policy, then the agent breaks off and creates your own policy w the new car
