A close, groundβlevel view of bright green moss spreading across a weathered reddish brick. The moss forms a dense, cushiony carpet of tiny leaves, with several thin brown stalks rising above it, each tipped with a small capsule. The brick beneath shows rough texture and patches of pale lichen, giving a sense of age, moisture, and a miniature forest thriving on stone.
According to my sources, I met this moss in Penang, Malaysia a year ago today

A close, intimate view of bright green moss on a dark, rough surface, each slender sporophyte tipped with a clear water droplet. The droplets catch and bend the light, acting like tiny lenses that magnify the moss beneath them. The foreground is crisp and detailed, while the background softens into a blurred wash of greens, giving the whole scene a sense of quiet, miniature abundance.

The above view of a fence post. It is weathered and has patches of grey lichen and moss cushions. Background is blurred grass.
Love a populated post. Moss and lichen rule these lands.

A dense, twisting tree is coated in thick, vivid green moss that clings to every branch and curve. The moss forms plush, velvety pads along the limbs, softening the bark and highlighting the treeβs contorted shapes. In some places it hangs in loose, feathery strands, in others it forms deep cushions that glow against the darker wood. The forest floor is muted beneath it, making the moss the brightest and most alive element in the image.

A person stands indoors in front of an ornate wooden wall panel and a carved wooden sign. The sign reads The Linnean Society of London, with the text engraved in a serif font. The person is wearing glasses and a green jacket over a dark top. They are smiling slightly and looking directly at the camera. The setting feels formal and historic, with warm-toned wood and decorative detailing that suggest an old scholarly institution.
Queerness Natural History programme
Went to the Linnean Society today to explore queer natural history. Met a lot of wonderful people, learnt about amazing projects and have had my perspectives challenged. Overall a very successful day ππ¬
