Really good 9-minute podcast with an LSE professor explaining how the tariffs were calculated and whether that is reasonable approach or not: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

I'm ridiculously elated about it being the weekend after two days back at work. A whole weekend to do whatever I want! Incredible!

e.g. Here I'm stopping an animation player before playing an animation. In 6 months I won't remember why I did that, so I added a comment for future-me:

A good rule of thumb for commenting is to comment /why/ the code is doing something rather than /what/ it's doing. And you only need to do that when the code is doing something non-obvious.

Played this demo, and it's a delight. A chill drive around game with good controls, soothing music, and all in all a mostly calm and pleasant experience.

Meet Willow, our state-of-the-art quantum chip Our new quantum chip demonstrates error correction and performance that paves the way to a useful, large-scale quantum computer.

The blog post announcing Google's new quantum chip includes this mind-blowing part: "It lends credence to the notion that quantum computation occurs in many parallel universes, in line with the idea that we live in a multiverse, a prediction first made by David Deutsch." blog.google/technology/r...
