Foto 0.10.53 is now available for all Android and Apple users.
We smoothed out the scrolling for the Home and Discovery Feed and squashed some bugs.
We are now working on Android Performance Improvements & Browser development continues!

‘owned by the community’ was probably the wrong phrasing. What we mean is we’re bootstrapped, independent, and building for users rather than investors. Not the same as decentralized ownership.
We need to update that phrasing so it’s more clear.
Fair. We’re 3 people, so we’re building centralized to move fast and focus on the product itself. Decentralization is interesting but it’s not what we can tackle right now. Might revisit as we grow.
We've officially started development of the browser version of Foto!

Foto 0.10.47 is now available for all Android and Apple users. This update fixes a bug that was preventing people from updating their profile photo and it removes the preloaded text from the share profile feature, so you can share your profile URL much easier.
@fotoapp.co is adding, piece by piece, new and useful features to the app. Now it’s possible to share a link to your profile so that people outside Foto can have a preview of your feed.

Here's a sneak peek at where we are at with the upcoming Profile Sharing links. This is me looking at a profile on my laptop. The profile-sharing links are previews, not the full Foto experience. Non-Foto users will need to download and create a Foto account to follow, like, and comment.

Foto 0.10.43 is available for beta testing.
We are waiting on Apple to review it for public release.
Above is a list of what we are working on next. We are trying to get to the Browser version as fast as we can, but we need to take care of these spammers and other items first.
We will 100% start development on the browser version in January.

We started development on the Read Only User Profile Sharing Links this week. This will allow you to share your Foto Profile with everyone. You’ll be able to put your Foto Profile in your IG Bio, share it on Threads, send it in an email, text it to a friend, etc.

So, are any photogs on @fotoapp.co? I’m starting to slowly migrate away from instagram and it’s infested ads and sponsors. Most of the time I don’t even see my friends posts until a week or even a month later! 👀
What we are building at Foto is something new.
There are aspects of the OG Instagram that were awesome, but our goal isn't to build a nostalgic social media app. Our goal is to build a holistic photography platform for everyone to share, search, and store their photos.
