Few things on this: Maine (and some other New England states like Vermont) treat private school differently. In many towns you can go to private school free, paid for by the town, because the towns are too small to have public high schools. But yeah, it appears Platner was at least middle class, maybe upper middle class with a lawyer dad and architect grandad. Yet since high school his work experience is the military, bartending (he was actually my bartender at the Tune Inn), and oystering. To dismiss the latter because he "owns an oyster farming business" misses the fact that he is out on the water every day working it. When he launched his campaign, friends in Maine reached out and said holy shit the guy we buy oysters from is running for Senate. He kept oystering through this summer, they told me. They've been buying from him for years. This is not a hobby, it's his work. At minimum, if you don't want to grant him the "working class" title, he has been working with working class people since graduating high school, which basically nobody in the Senate can say. (He never graduated college.)

It's the middle of the night in Chicago. Reporters and electeds are trying to figure out why a US citizen was detained by CBP, why her phone was inside an ICE detention center tonight, and where she is now.
Also unclear what happened to the other five people she was detained with at O'Hare airport.

Then I saw how he always centered himself, as I did, as society does with men. They do what they want... he wanted me until he didn’t anymore, then he wanted me again. And it's how he was/they are socialized. I (strangely) stopped taking it personally. I fell out of love with him in that moment. (3)
It took some time to realize this part, but I'll offer it now in case it's helpful- by centering *myself* my energy shifted away from him & I saw how much centering him (when we were together), limited my life. I saw that I put him before myself, & I didn't deserve it. I deserved ME. He did not. (2)
I'm so sorry you're going through this. When I went through my hardest heartbreak what helped was leaning on the people closest to me- the ones I could *really* trust- I ate what I needed, watched feel-good movies & shows, lit candles, bought flowers, cried, did everything that provided comfort (1)
