Re last post: I can be empathetic about the tragic and needless loss of life while abhorring military and militarization. My family was killed by soldiers in El Salvador (US funded). I have more in common with the families devastated by US soldiers.
I can’t imagine or stomach that new 18 year olds will die for this war. I remember seeing cars with memorial stickers with the names and birthdays of people’s kids. Usually something like “John Smith 1987-2005”. Except it was usually a Spanish name. The immensity of that is so terrible. 2/2
I graduated high school in 2005 and I remember kids from other high schools enlisting and being killed in Iraq. 18 year olds fresh out of school. It’s devastating then and now 20 years later people younger than me but still in their 30s are dying in an illegal war (all war is immoral). 1/2
