well that was enough bluesky for me for the next month
Blocking the construction of ICE detention centers is much easier than closing them once they're built! If you're in this county, follow the OP for some ways to support; if you're not, keep an ear out for proposed detention facilities in your zone
Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.
Excellent article!
Italian journalists were threatened in Minneapolis by ICE agents after identifying themselves as journalists. They were told if they didn’t stop filming, the agents would break the windows of the car & drag them out. "They have no regard for anyone," one reports, "you don't know how far they'll go."
Once again tapping my sign: ICE exist in the UK 🚨 They have had arrest powers since 2000. This government - not a hypothetical future one - is working harder than ever before to raid homes and businesses.
In solidarity with today's ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA blackout, MinnMax is donating $1 to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota for every share of this Bluesky post for the next hour.
This is a list of businesses across Minnesota that are closing tomorrow in solidarity with the economic shutdown. Huge thanks to every one of them for stepping up. If your business is also closing, drop it below.

we saw two different movies... and that's okay
we also live in two very different Americas and that's less okay
one that knows Black women... and one that fantasizes Black women
And that is truly One Battle After Another
i realized watching OBAA is a completely different experience as a Black person (this will be a read only thread... you know who you are... you know why)
kidnapping a 5 year old to bait his father and then shipping them thousands of miles away should put you in prison, yes, but it should also cause every friend and family member you have ever had to permanently reject you in disgrace, and if they don’t, they share your shame
"History also changes because of strange, flawed, deeply human people doing unremarkable, tedious, and often boring work." - I think about this daily. Perhaps others will also be interested.

If ICE and genocide and grift and tyranny weren’t enough, this alone should have fire running down every street in America.
This isn’t the way to live.
We do not have to live this way.
Mamdani: For too long, those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum to mask agendas of cruelty
In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.
You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.
That is all.
undoing a bunch of the horrific shit leftover from previous administrations is such a low bar for politicians, yet one labour + democrats repeatedly fail. refreshing to see Mamdani show that this is Day 1 shit

Watching the “political violence has no place in America” language with interest.
I’m no historian, but our whole nation is founded on political violence. And has continued to be politically violent ever since.
Curious how “political violence” from a communication perspective shifts.
Honestly can't think of a more straightforward example of how men profit from the sexual degradation of women
Cursive is so unique to each person. I remember forging my dad’s signature on a bunch of documents my 5th grade teacher would send home when I wasn’t doing my work. She knew it looked off and saved em all until the day he showed up. She dropped that stack of paper on me like I caught a RICO case 😭.
I think it was @prisonculture.bsky.social who said something to the effect of "all the deportation captivity horror stories are what we've been saying is happening in normal prisons for years" and it continues to be largely correct.
"[It's] as if we’ve collectively agreed that fiscal responsibility is best taught through the ritual humiliation of second graders."
This is an excellent piece, not just about school lunch debt, but how we manage the relationship between working for systemic change and mitigating immediate harm.
“Trump is the Republican Party. That is settled. His violent talk is, then, the official political communication strategy of the ruling party and its followers. And that ruling party is stripping this country for parts.” @tressiemcphd.bsky.social Gift article: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/22/o...
"The fact that harassment happens “online” makes it more violent, not less...Once upon a time, when a rumor threatened your ability to do your job or live your life offline, it was horrible. It was also bound to time and place. But once a targeted harassment campaign goes virtual, it never ends."
