Strange and funny signs from Thailand Welcome to another frontier of English language usage.

Some of these from David Luekens @ Thai Island Quest are pretty good. I've got quite the collection of signs as well from my travels in Asia. Will put together a compilation sometime.

How to Travel Like Anthony Bourdain It’s not about where you go. It’s about how you go.

Do I know anyone who creates Wikipedia pages/stubs? (not for me). Send me recommendations if you have them. Thanks!

Did you know that it's illegal to carry or wear anything with a camouflage pattern in #Barbados? Good to know. I'll be there in a few days...

"Also, be aware that it is against the law for anyone, even children, to dress in camouflage clothing or carry items made with camouflage material."

Back from social-media hiatus. Travel and (nearly) useless content soon to follow.

Got my new passport via online renewal in two weeks!!! The estimate was 6 - 8 weeks. Painless process -- took the photo myself. Pleasantly surprised.

Also...passports have changed a LOT since my last one 10 years ago. I'm happy to see the plastic photo page now.

Myanmar's Shwe Kokko: Inside a city 'built on scams' A haven for the super rich, or a city built on scams? The BBC was invited to find out.

Woah! Here's one to not add to the bucket list. 😬 Thanks @timleffel.bsky.social for bringing to my attention. #Burma #Myanmar #Thailand

And why does this make me think of Sihanoukville in Cambodia..?

Wonderful! I hope their estimate of 6 - 8 weeks is exaggerated and I get mine sooner, too.

Great you guys got them together!

My passport renewal is complete! Feels rotten to not have a valid passport until the new one gets here (~6-8 weeks). Yikes. Online renewal was pretty good.

Good news is that the "big" book US passports cost the exact same ($130) -- so I went ahead and requested the extra pages. I'll need them. πŸ›‚

Facebook flags Linux topics as 'cybersecurity threats' β€” posts and users being blocked DistroWatch is one of the largest affected organizations.

So Facebook recently quit fact checking but then decided that the Linux operating system was a "cybersecurity threat"...?! Some of my Linux groups are gone!

I quit Twitter (had 10K+ followers) because it was run by a clueless moron. I guess Facebook is next.

Coba Maya ruins

Coba Maya ruins

Drove a scooter to visit the Coba Maya ruins in Mexico last week. Unfortunately, they no longer allow people to climb to the top.

Spent my 19th #vagabonding anniversary yesterday flying home from Tulum, Mexico -- a place that has changed a lot since I visited 10 years ago. Unlike my first two trips to Mexico, this one didn't involve any work! 🌴

Packing for my first international jaunt in a while. Forgot how good it feels.

Only gone a quick week, but to a MUCH warmer place than here (will be 5 degrees F on Sunday night)! ✈️🌴

Heads up, flyers... πŸ›„ ✈️

The new 2025 carry-on dimensions for many airlines are: 22” x 14” x 9” (includes handle and/or wheels) with a max of 17 - 22 pounds.

There were also some crackdowns regarding power banks (over 100 watt hrs requires approval). #flying #airlines #digitalnomads

Secondary Security Screening Selection - Wikipedia

Ever see SSSS or *S* on your boarding pass? If so, prepare for more screening!

I've had this happen more than once. Maybe because I often fly solo with one-way tickets to "unusual destinations." Or maybe I just look like trouble... πŸ€”

Did you know that in the Spanish language:

"un billΓ³n" does not equal a billion in English, it's actually one trillion (1,000,000,000,000).

"un trillΓ³n" is actually one quintillion in English (1,000,000,000,000,000,000).

True story.

I fought hard against this the first time it happened. A lot of friends didn't seem to realize how serious this is. As a network engineer, I understand the implications.

Been a few years since I made an initial entry on a new social platform. What better way to start than by sharing a memory of vagabonding through West Sumatra...
