Request: "that's ill-eagle) Response: a drawing of an eagle in handcuffs -- or is that wingcuffs? -- with a thermometer in its mouth. Its beak appears to be running too. It looks pitiful.
Disability accommodations are a rare thing that actually trickles down. You like curb cutouts? Auto-opening doors? Jar openers? Ramps? Hand rails? YOU’RE WELCOME
Even as an abled person you use disability accommodations every single day.
Supporting accommodations actually helps everyone.
Thank you so much!

Gouache painting depicting a knight rising out of a murky green ocean. Their armor is dripping with slime and embellished with coral-like growths. Their helmet resembles a cephalopod and many eyes are visible behind the tentacled visor. Eldritch monoliths protrude from the waves in the background.
A knight called by the deep, now an eternal guardian of the sunken city...
This is from a few years ago and I don't think it ever made it on here.
Disabled lives have value too.
The autism “cure” industry pisses me off if for no other reason than that it relies on convincing parents that autism is The Worst Thing To Happen to A Child, Ever (TM)
Imagine all the cool, fast trains we could have with the billions we spend on bombs.
Was recently thinking about a sort of hierarchy of needs that speaks to this moment.
1) Survive. Nothing happens without this.
2) Hope. Believe in a better future.
3) Plan. What can I do to help make that future a reality (even a small thing)?
4) Act. Put your plan in motion.
Harper to the judge: "Your driver's license doesn't list your height and weight at birth. It doesn't list where you used to live. It identifies who you are now."
This is the shit I try to remember when the world seems very grim-- that in dark times (this was a covid school event) there's still so much desire for community and whimsy.
I firmly believe that humanity is good and that we can reach that potential with the right resources and community support
It’s gotta be either skittermanders or vlaka.

A raku pottery polar bear sculpture being pulled from the heat of reduction.
Polaris the Bear combines the magic of raku with the feeling of first snow on a starry night: crisp air, soft light, and that moment winter asks you to slow down.
A small reminder to breathe, wander, and let the season settle in, for soon spring will come.

Well, gas is expensive, and food is expensive, and we’re doing a war nobody wants, but at least there are no jobs
Tech bro oligarch: The AI is... real... sentient.... it's feeling real feelings... we must do everything we can to protect it and give it rights
Also tech bro oligarch: Human females are basically cattle made to push out as many babies as possible, all of which I will neglect

Motherfucker, the math that powers your war machine is ARABIC. The woman who enabled the GPS that enables you to rain death on civilians was BLACK. And let’s not EVEN talk about that the sheer number of immigrants and non-western folks who make this country what it is.
Fuck. You.
Ngl, chat, if your special interest is Norse mythology, you gotta be pretty loud about how much you like kindness and multiculturalism and Loki being genderfucky

It’s almost like if someone’s basic needs are being met, they’re less likely to commit crimes
No normal medical, legal, or political process has ever gone from saying more evidence of benefit is needed to bans or restrictions. That's supposed to be a conversation patients (or parents) have with doctors. (The conspiracy theory on trans care says docs can't be trusted, again w/ no evidence.)
The reason people are banning or limiting gender affirming care for youth on the basis that the evidence base was weak (which as Greg says is similar to the evidence for many other youth treatments) is entirely about prejudice and wanting to limit the number of trans people.
Banning or restricting treatments in the past has happened when there is evidence of harm. Here, the harm remains entirely speculative on the level of medical evidence (meaning, there are a few individuals claiming to have been harmed, but harms have never been demonstrated in the research).
There's another dynamic going on, which no one in the mainstream press I've seen has touched (though @polgreen.bsky.social got closest), and that's the fact that it is unprecedented to ban or heavily restrict a treatment on the basis that the evidence isn't high quality enough.
