Very much in my ‘nice book’ phase
Very much in my ‘nice book’ phase
Frogspawn in the V-2 crater in Epping Forest this morning, surface swirling with scarpering legs as I approached. Always the same spot in the margins each year & through March it's often a race against time as the water retreats in a dry spring.
Looks like you’re done for the day, off to the pub!
AT LEAST one of those.
Spot the “I haven’t been cycling in a while” mistake.
All I’m getting from the algorithm at the moment is videos of avalanches 🏔️
10/2026. The new one by the guy who wrote Empire of Pain and Say Nothing. Very readable, but he seemed sort of surprised that London is full of oligarchs and gangsters… 🤷♂️
No.
Fine piece of writing, this, in case you were wondering about that Amazon van www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
Surely Allo Allo is very pro-beret?
I do a book swap every two months with an old friend, in which we send each other by post something we’ve read recently that we’ve liked. It gets me reading things I never would have picked up. Some don’t hit the mark, but good to read a little out of other people’s interests….
9/2026 Tiny book by a climber/fisherman/poet living in deep west Cornwall. Salty, visceral and brilliant.
8/2026 Something something AI robots. Not for me.
Plenty of winter sports to watch this weekend
47. How old is he gonna look when he leaves?
Never a dull moment at the library. Harris hawk on duty to stop pigeons pooing on the Grade 1-listed brickwork.
Wait what
🤷♂️
I however seem to be in the ‘Awkward to Define’ section.
Lots of familiar faces in the Sport section…
Just spent 5 mins trying to help a woman find the Self Help section in the bookshop, via the directory on the wall and the help desk, but fear that, Darwinistically, she won’t make it.
There's an interview with me in the latest @faustomagazine.bsky.social (faustomagazine.com). If I'd known they were going to run the photo so big, I would have given them one from even longer ago! mdr

7/2026. Apocalypse/sport/war. Bleak but very funny. A re-read and first fiction of 2026.
6/2026. Very French, and not always in a good way. Great first line: “Walking is not a sport”!
FFS 🤦
Delighted to receive a copy of this, a magnificent look at iconic outdoor clothing by @maxleonard.bsky.social and Henry Iddon, published by Isola Press. Some fantastic pieces (and some absolute horrors) in there.
Just saw a post with George Clinton citing the Beatles as his favorite band, which reminded me of this quote he once gave me
But for said meeting I would have gone to pub also!
Had a meeting round the corner, so I left after 15 mins shivering in the piazza and now am at meeting with my transparent plastic bag, without coat 🥶
