He’s got six years of MLB control, Rule 5 eligible after 2027, and it only cost two months of Dustin May.

OMG JUST SAY IT GAME SEVEN OF WHAT?!?!?!?
Heck, I’d be happy to tell him how the next five days went but that would spoil the surprise.
The Dodgers have more World Series Championships this decade than Jurickson Profar has PED suspensions.
THAT is dominance.
Wake up, babe, there’s TWO moons now.
Debt financing it great if it’s routine corporate finance but not if purposed for covering a deficit.
My last word on this: if the Padres’ operating cash flows supported a top-5 payroll in MLB, we wouldn’t be expecting a two-point-something billion sale price. And yes, the geography is brutal.
I don’t think they would have engaged in the level of debt financing and especially equity financing that they did if it were truly sustainable.
Cot’s has them at 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 6th, and 11th in payroll (sorted by rank) since 2021. The media market is CLE-sized, and they lost the local carrier.
There is irony in the Padres jacking payroll up by like $200M in an effort to win a WS (cool!)! before the principal owner died (bummer!) while fans tried to fight anyone that questioned the sustainability untol now that they’re out of money it’s OOOPS NEED A SALARY CAP, YOU GUYS.
Fans of the 2025 Dodgers are not prepared to learn Conforto’s OBP was 20 points higher than Teoscar’s.
Ward had a shot at a few yesrs overseas.
Had.
Real sickos know Ward mashes AAA fastballs and can’t touch AAA breaking stuff so you can see why he wasn’t taken in Rule 5 after 2024.
Look, he’s a hell of a ballplayer by any reasonable definition. The Majors are ROUGH.
There have been times in recent years when my wife wondered earnestly if we should expatriate with our four young children and I’ve given it serious thought but always come back to the idea that we need to ride this ship down, if necessary.
What you reference is my Exhibit A as to why.
“No, no, no! I said, ‘dock the taskbar!’
‘DOCK the TASKBAR!’”
“Since coming up to the big leagues, Crow-Armstrong has strived to stay authentic. Last year, he arrived at spring training with Dennis Rodman–inspired bleached-blond, close-cropped hair covered with blue stars.”
It’s interesting how quotes about Dodger fans got all the attention in PCA’s Chicago Magazine feature when there’s so much cringey other stuff in here, like:
“I spend a lot of time in front of the mirror,” Crow-Armstrong says.

I think the rule is that in order for it to be a true spring roster cut it needs to happen the day before the team distributes the per diems for the next week.
Fans are also going to have a hard time understanding why teams aren’t challenging obvious misses in the fourth inning with two out nobody on but unsuccessfully challange a full-count pitch probably called correctly with two on in the eighth.
PCA has literal Hollywood parents and attended the arguably most-coveted prep school in LA County and he’s out here like “LA fans aren’t the real deal” while playing in the #1 casual tourist ballpark in MLB.
Fine, he can say whatever he wants but this is HILARIOUS.
This is why they push the ring ceremonies to Opening Day +1, IMO.
I am trying to imagine how bad Soto will be at fielding the pitcher position.

I love the DLR records with Steve Vai, too. They do not sound like VH but you’ve gotta love that combo: two inimitable guys making a dumb rock record.
This is true and there’s another layer to DLR fitting with the band: Eddie’s guitar was mixed LOUD even by the standards of rock. To sing alongside that requires pretty extreme vocal tone and stylings. DLR evolved into a singer that could fill that space.
“You are not a failure until you start blaming others for your mistakes.”

That EVH’s guitar could single-handedly carry a band with either David Lee Roth singing random lines with fourthwall-breaking side comments thrown in between or Sammy Hagar trying to sing everything as if it were Very Serious Art(tm) is really a testament to his inimitable genius.
The owners’ war chest was $4bn, but the Pirates, Brewers, Twins, Marlins, and Rays all demanded half of it right off the top.
Geez that guy is wildly wrong on the basic facts. The players take a hundreds-of-millions annual haircut at those cap/floor bounds.
And if we’re talking about league revenues overall, the reported figures don’t even include all the baseball revenue that teams reclassified into side entities…
AP reports the Mets owner won’t have a team captain and then for some reason Francisco Lindor wants to tell AP he’s totally cool with that because Lindor would never beg anyone to be named team captain.

Can we just pretend he’s still our dear friend and throwing 99 wherever he wants?
I could write a thread about guys like this, of all ages, casually trying to bully my wife IRL before they realize she’s there with me and then they vanish.
Not that my wife couldn’t cut them to shreds on her own. They just spook before she gets the chance.
Castellanos is a perfect fit in San Diego: league-minimum salary for a club out of money, no clubhouse culture or standards to wreck, no big-league manager to bother him.
Getting ready for tee-ball practice is when you buy the literal smallest helmet anybody sells and your kid is like waaah I hate this helmet it’s too big! and then you let them try on their older sibling’s helmet that is much larger and they think it fits great.
