But since then - particularly after so many tropes, images and visual styles have been appropriated from the movie into everything from other movies to industrial design - much it seems oddly comfortable. And the dystopian elements tired. The opposite of what was intended, of course.
It was impossible for me to sit through for decades. But that was when I had a stubborn view that narrative mattered.
