The fact that this is only being said AFTER a decisive electoral defeat tells me that it won't.

This is how it's done
Strip away the cloak of alleged "firm convictions and beliefs" and you reveal that they all have always simply told you what they thought you wanted to hear, at least while your vote mattered to them.

Reacting to Labour's devastating loss to the Green Party in Gorton and Denton, Keir Starmer claims that only Labour can unite communities. I agree. He convinced Muslims to vote for a white working class woman representing a party led by a gay Jewish man.
In context, the letter essentially says: "You're not the only country with trans people. Everybody else has managed to figure out how to protect trans people without putting cis women and girls at risk. Get your shit together."
Hence the juxtaposition on the quote.
