My favorite of the local #tits ... Crested Tit (Lophophanes cristatus). It generally prefers conifers at higher elevation and since Hungary has little of either, it is a bit uncommon in the country, especially in the lowlands. #BirdingHungary

When I first learned about them as a kid visiting New Zealand in 1981, there were only 100 birds and I desperately wanted to see one.

A very handsome brown and white Allenโs hummingbird is perched on a thin branch in a tree. His neck feathers are iridescent dark red.
