In their (very slight) defence, I searched to see if Lyft donated to Republicans and was pleased to see they do actually seem to be pretty awesome in that respect.

We make fun of rainbow capitalism but it really is important that they show support, ESPECIALLY at a time when the federal government is so nakedly hostile. "We support our trans and LGBTQIA+ community" is a stand that has legitimate risks right now!

I had to retake my anti-discrimination training recently. There is a *very* lengthy section detailing their policies on trans associates, specifically calling out deadnaming and bathroom policing as violations of company policy.
I was *floored* that was there; it wasn't at my previous employer.
I work for Ahold Delhaize, a company that really does seem to be putting its money where its mouth is. I personally know that there are trans women in salaried store management, our "we're hiring" table has a DEI pledge on it, and my custom nametag even has my correct pronouns on it!
Yes it's not enough and frankly a very bleak gesture, but it's still an example of a major company making a very public show of support at a time when major companies are running away from us in droves

I was in Highschool in Tennessee when Columbine happened and saw this first hand. All the alt "weird" kids got hassled constantly by the teachers and staff. The absolutely meekest kids that never bothered anyone but wore black all the time got searched on a regular basis.
