THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
log in here like once a year and realize new people found us anyway 😝
Inbox is open for submissions, folks! Hope to see you there.

Very cool, congrats! 😎 Hilarious title!
Love the quiet beauty of these poems from Jenna Wysong Filbrun, the perfect brief read to center you on a busy morning in this spinning world.

Regardless of whether you write or not, please consider visiting their store or, if you aren't local, visiting your own local brick and mortar bookstores.
This journal and store do so much good work to keep the arts thriving in our region, and Ben, the editor and store manager, couldn't be more welcoming. Best of all for any fellow Florida writers, the magazine pays contributors in bookstore credit!
Excited to have a short story in the most recent issue of Magazine1, a publication from Southwest Florida's own Bookstore1 Sarasota.

Now you are like morning bread, Smooth and pleasant. I hardly taste you at all for I know your savour, But I am completely nourished.
I adore how Amy Lowell’s poem “A Decade,” builds on and deepens the visceral intensity of earlier love poems, like “Aubade.” One of my favorites, especially as I continue to advance decades.
FREE GIVEAWAY ALERT!! 🚨
I'm giving away TWO copies of Circulaire, my collection of love poems, this Valentine's Day! 💘

A live picture of me right now… 🤦♂️
APA Style: All book, article, and website titles use sentence-style formatting, not headline style like everyone else.
Me: Why?
APA: Because we can, that’s why
Me: Weird but okay, I guess.
APA smiling and suppressing a laugh: Except for academic journals, they use headline style. 🤣 🤪
Me: 😡

I don’t understand what they are doing at all. Even hiring Daboll would have set the team in a new, potentially more-positive direction. What was the point of anything here—other than to get someone in who will parrot the GM?
Things are bad…
The journal is great and growing, the editor is so dedicated and welcoming, and they have another submission window opening at the end of the month: theorangeroselitmag.com/submission-g...
It focuses on a weekend awaiting MRI results during my previous mysterious health ailment (the occurrences of which have become something of a 3-year ritual for me).
Excited to have “Vantage,” a work of flash creative nonfiction, in the most recent edition of @orangeroseli (theorangeroselitmag.com/2026/01/19/v...).
In Davos, the world is watching an American president’s mind dissolve in real time.
The NFL will take 11 minutes to review a six-yard reception in the fourth quarter of a 25-point game. The NFL will not, however, review a franchise-changin play in overtime of the Divisional Round.
Both things can be and are true. It isn’t one or the other 🤷♂️
That is a reason they lost, definitely. But if the Cooks pass is ruled a catch or Hardman catches the pass before, they win. It all matters.

Tumblr post: "Reading sports headlines while pretending sports doesn't exist suggests a fascinating world of magic and whimsy." Examples: "Darius Slay says he was 'this close' to becoming a Raven." "David Montgomery was pursued by Vikings, Bears." "Transfer Portal created in good faith, but is out of control." "Wolf enters transfer portal." "Wizards and Raptors injury reports."
Without the injury, they are almost certainly in the playoffs. Terrible luck. He should have been kept on the sidelines for his longterm health after the first injury. Hints of RG3’s injury experience here.
