For twitch specifically, I couldn't use these methods very much, so I used it mostly just for raw listening practice

It's called rikaikun! I use chrome, but there's an equivalent for Firefox that used to be called rikaichan but I think it goes by a different name now.

For the subtitles themselves I used another extension to make the text hoverable. I think that was called Language Learning with Netflix & YouTube

Yeah the Twitter filter has been really, really bad

It's also a bit jarring to come here from Twitter where every viral tweet has nothing but fake bot interactions for the first N hundred replies. I genuinely forgot what it was like to use social media like this without bots...

The problem of dog piling and bullying people with smaller numbers of followers was real. Forcing someone to have to delete their content entirely and remove all positive interactions, too, to avoid a toxic negative one was not a good choice.

I saw something on Twitter about Bsky allowing you to remove your posts from quotes, which is really a great feature if that's real. On Twitter you had to block people to effectively achieve that (people would have to explicitly click through if you blocked the QTer), which wasn't ideal.
