Each Covid-19 wave wrecks your health. Here's what you can do Hospitalisations and deaths from the virus are climbing as the ninth wave of Covid-19 surges across Aotearoa.

Prof. Helen Petousis-Harris, Auckland Univ.: There's not enough awareness of the impact of Covid-19 on overall health.

"What many people don't realise is that getting Covid repeatedly is not like building immunity, it's more like accumulating damage"

New Zealand tackled Covid by going in early and hard, shutting the virus out until vaccines arrived and ending up with one of the lowest death rates anywhere #NZPol

No AI, I don’t want you to summarize everything. I want to read things and think about them with my own brain.

It’s a good time to chuck on a respirator mask, esp in health care settings, public transport & busy places (indoors and out). @covidactionnz.bsky.social have set up a couple of mask blocs around the country if you’re close to one and need some masks.

Covid-19 vaccines still protect us: How do we get the best out of them? International evidence shows that even during the Omicron era, Covid-19 vaccines continue to provide protection against infection, hospitalisation, death, and Long Covid, as well as improving outcomes...

The Public Health Communication Centre Aotearoa recommended in *2024* to extend eligibility for additional doses to younger age groups, especially those at occupational risk.

Could NZ media please follow up on why public health expert recommendations are not being followed, as a new wave ramps up 🫠

We need clean air in schools. Covid is airborne with tiny aerosol particles. Ventilation and air filtration are proven to reduce levels of Covid in the air. We need to minimize transmission in schools.

@health.govt.nz @healthnz.govt.nz why is there no offical comms telling people to get boosters?!?! Of course only over-30s can regularly get them. 😑
Why is Prof Baker the only person talking about this??
The current and previous Ministers for Health do not want to talk about it, that’s why. #nzpol

Working in a pandemic world is just listening to colleagues say β€œthere must be something going around” on a weekly basis for years and trying to decide if you wanna remind them it’s covid or silently scream into the void again.
