It was a very hot July day in 2014. I was sweating from the sweltering subway ride to the apartment I'd rented for a couple of days in an old five-story brick building (it was actually an ordinary apartment converted into a short-term rental). But as soon as I stepped through the door and opened my suitcase, I was forced into a skintight Lycra horse suit I'd sewn myself the day before, and I began hastily posing for photos, making up poses as I went. The mask, pressed tightly to my face by the bridle, was pressing against my face; I felt terribly fat and clumsy in the tightly laced corset (as if a saddle had been placed on a cow), and the steel ring and strap of the sburi were digging into my crotch. I was hot and a little sore. Besides, I wasn't used to wearing high platform shoes without heels, and I was terrified of falling from the height of the hooves while trying to follow commands and pose. In this photo I look very tall, but it's not just the angle, but also the low ceilings of the old Soviet-era building...
