@mplsfietser.bike if the bay area had a cohesive transit system and the bike share system was owned by the municipalities (like Boston), you could relieve some of the crowding by increasing bike share where bikes are getting on the train

@bikepedantic.bsky.social I don't know how I missed that but of the plan. That's right next to me and a major reason I avoid using mass Ave to get anywhere
@bikepedantic.bsky.social I wonder if that block will get a sidewalk grade bike lane in the process
@mclean.bsky.social but even just supercharger. We rented an EV and the hotel charger was Tesla. In the middle of Kentucky, not like there were other options to charge while we were out instead of charging overnight
This weekend would be a good time to get an e-bike. A fuck-ton of errands are trips of less than 10 miles, but that uses a lot of petrol.
@davidho.bsky.social something I learned today is that up until recently, Boston police did not report doorings because no one was "operating" the vehicle, therefore no crash happened. It took the state to enforce a clear standard for reporting to them to change that
@laurenshof isn't the thing about how ai companies have designed their stuff is to use all of the energy and therefore their costs are going to skyrocket too?

Miss me with the "cyclists are entitled" when space savers are a thing

anyone who dares to ask a cyclist why they would use the streets under ANY CONDITIONS A MOTORIST WOULD ALSO USE THEM is not *merely* an asshole but also almost certainly a genuine danger to cyclists on the roads
@Kevin but yeah, walking around tonight was pretty bad after getting way more snow than expected and it actually freezing
@Kevin it's going to melt so fast once the sun is up, just don't go outside too early
So many road safety studies use # of lanes as an independent variable, but (except for road-diet-focused studies) rarely as the dependent variable.
Very little lit actually says what all the data shows - βcontrolling for everything else, the more lanes you have in your road, the more fatalities.β

Need more open-source apps to replace things. Mastodon is a good start.
@misctakes.com I don't think they have, sadly. Would be happy if others pushed it (I've likely done the bridge request already for them all)
@misctakes.com fwiw, my understanding is the mayor is focusing on bsky interactions over others. Which is different then officially abandoning, but also shows she is probably swayable
Anyone want to get this going?

@bikepedantic.bsky.social 495 REM might make more sense if you deviate to hit Worcester to Providence. I think CityNerd made a comment in a video once how that is one of the biggest commuting city pairs without rail service in the country. And if we are talking regional rail, connecting things [β¦]
@bikepedantic.bsky.social nice to haves: each train has a bike car and Bluebikes is expanded to be usable at each station
how to get it: congestion fees and non-pike highway tolling, T can build outside of zoning limits within 1000ft of any station as much housing and retail as they want and [β¦]

Last #BostonWeekend for February 2026 - March countdown to Spring! Maybe youβre big strong now after all that shoveling, or maybe you are big hurt from weather related problems. Either way, I hope youβll choose to socialize out in the world with your #Boston area neighbors, assuming thats [β¦]
@misctakes.com I think @bikeboston.bsky.social is fully off it
@somershade.bsky.social could time it with the grounding of McGrath, big upgrade to the whole area
Again and again if you pay attention to transportation politics you will learn that if you don't drive a car you're not a real <some category of person>.
And there are so many of these categories that it's clear the real assumption is that if you don't drive a car, you're not fully human.
To be clear, the correct answer is to remove gender from basically every government document.
#Boston #cycling and #mobility folks, this coming Tuesday (3 March) there is a public hearing at 2 PM to discuss "snow removal relief, the creation of a snow corps, and the purchasing of snow melters."
Virtual attendance is available as an option

@crschmidt.net I complain about the large parking lot and single story retail right at the red line stop, but I'd never argue that the parking lot isn't utilized as is
Municipal sidewalk snow clearance programs have public health benefits.
Watching plows clear the residual snow from my street this evening before the blizzards starts in earnest, I am of course grateful for the driverβs work.
It also seems a bit of a failure of strategy to not have done this on regular time over the last two weeks.
@notalegalrecord.net For All Manknd season 2 has an adoption storyline and I'm curious if you've seen it and how you feel about it (I think I've only really seen the start of it and there is probably more to come, so I don't actually know how it resolves yet)
