slightly daft cartoon Γ propos, vaguely, of the time of year
Thanks for the clarification. Even if they stockpile they will likely offer discounts. Consumers donβt want βoldβ technology and inventory is tough on the balance sheet in this interest rate environment.
PSA for people in the US:
On January 1, no more residential heat pumps may be sold that use R410-A refrigerant. So some contractors may be out of stock and have higher prices OR you may find an installer who is overstocked and will give you an incredible deal.
Call around for multiple quotes!
Thankful for thermodynamics.
What if we⦠just gave everyone a heat pump?
The sun is why!

TL;DR: heat exchange performance over fashion.
Heat exchangers have mostly been designed with light colored metals so they get less hot, making it easier to reject heat in the summer. As more ACs become heat pumps the cold climate ones will use dark colors for better winter performance.
Thought youβd like it ;)
Has it not been supported since 2020? Not an area weβre super deep on. www.vaillant-group.com/news-stories...
Trick question! A life with climate change is a harder life, no matter what trade or profession you do.
This is an example of how much data is required at the minimum to figure it out: fixielabs.notion.site/Heat-Pump-Op...
Answered as best I could bsky.app/profile/heat...
Zero Homes is also a great option to explore in the Denver area: zerohomes.io
No way to say with that limited information but in Denver you are in luck! GoElectric Colorado (covered in this episode heatpump.review/podcast-003-... ) can help you sort it out for free.
Are we talking outdoor heat exchanger or indoor head units of mini-splits?
What are your heat pump questions?
Can be technical, industry or policy related.
I will try to answer them or find the experts on Bluesky who can.
Our first starter pack: green building design professionals who we know and trust.
Please do suggest more folk to us, but note that we're trying to take care to only include people whose work has impressed us.

Should note: that 1 model/line -- GSZV9 -- is their most performant model. So people trying to take advantage of the IRA (while it lasts) will be shooey out of luck. Contractors can't place orders for the R410A but R32 model is delayed until Q4'25.
A table of Daikin/Goodman/Amana heat pump models and the dates when they will be shipping with the new R32 refrigerant.
Looks like Daikin/Goodman/Amana is still on track to get their Residential AC/Heat Pumps switched over to the lower GWP R32 by the Jan 1 deadline. Only one model/line looks like it will be far behind schedule.
Yes. And well designed software for heat pumps is required to make participation in VPPs go from something that lasts only hours a year in traditional utility run programs to something happening all year.
I always thought that industry had limited electrification potential.
How wrong I was:
Once we looked into it in more detail we found that the potential for industrial electrification is huge.
90% of industrial process heat could be electrified in Europe by 2035.
Heat pump starter pack just dropped.

Because we are very 1337 DNS managers, we are how happily at @heatpump.review
Of course this will keep happening. And long term: On site solar + storage + heat pumps will replace many heat processes with crazy savings.
made a starter pack for those looking for passivhaus peeps, building science gurus, energy codes, building decarbonization, retrofits, and deep green building bada**es

The financing and incentive landscape is complex, and that just might slow down the energy transition. One startup, Coral, is trying to make everything more simple β and reduce costs for customers and contractors in the process: heatpump.review/podcast-005-...
This one's for the open standards and energy nerds!
This week on the podcast, we talk to Rolf Bienert, the Managing and Technical Director of the OpenADR Alliance. OpenADR is the leading open protocol for demand response.

We launched a podcast! Hopefully something you all will enjoy if youβre into electrification, heat pumps, βgreen jobs,βclimate, and climate justice.
Would be honored to have you give it a listen and for you to share with a friend or colleague who geeks out about this too.
