Sorry, it is "z" not "t" to select a zero-crossing.
"t" is to silence a section, I misremembered my shortcuts...
You can used "t" instead of <del> to remove unwanted noise, you just in both cases have to be careful not to remove any quiet part of a word, trailing s-es in particular go on longer...
You can also shorten silence this way, or lengthen it by:
- selecting some silence from elsewhere (with "t" presses)
- ctrl-C
- click where you want to insert it, press "t"
- ctrl-V
After that you can go through removing any unwanted breath or lip sounds in the quiet spaces between words, you can do this:
- select before the unwanted sound, press "t" (to get the cursor on a zero-point in the wave)
- drag to end, press "t"
- press <del>
Then you may want to use something like Effects -> Volume And Compression -> Loudness Normalisation to get your recordings the same...
I create poem recordings as follows:
Noise Reduction:
- select a piece of the recording with no voice on it
- go to Effect -> Noise Removal And Repair -> Noise Reduction
-- click "Get Sample"
- select whole track
- go to Effect -> Noise Removal And Repair -> Noise Reduction
-- click "OK"

In a video game this fence might well be pristine, or maybe rust and moss would just be drawn on the surface but out in the world, each patch of green moss is fully 3D and, if only we looked, filled with tiny insect, and even tinier, microbial life. [2/5]
