Collage of portraits and historical photographs featuring several women arranged against a light background. At the upper left is a pencil portrait of Charlotte Small with braided hair and a headscarf. To the upper right are smaller portraits including Barbara Frum speaking into a radio microphone and Maud Abbott in an academic gown. In the center are colour and black-and-white portraits of Michelle Douglas in a Canadian Armed Forces uniform and Judy LaMarsh wearing glasses and a pearl necklace. Along the lower section are Carrie Best reading a newspaper titled β€œThe Clarion,” Kim Campbell wearing medals in a formal portrait, Hide Hyodo Shimizu teaching two children in front of a chalkboard reading β€œHastings Park,” and Bobbie Rosenfeld seated with medals and a trophy. On the right side is a large image of Mary Two-Axe Earley gesturing while speaking, wearing glasses and a large pendant necklace. A faint β€œCanadian History Ehx” logo appears near the center of the collage.

It is International Women's Day.
There have been many, many amazing women who have shaped Canada's history.
I have chosen to feature ten of those women.
These are their amazing stories.

Glad that Carney refused Canada’s participation. Don’t think it will matter much, though.

Sometimes, you just gotta eat it right in front of them, to remind them who's wearing the pants.

That would be the wife, btw.

Brought a new headset to work with me, and I can finally barely hear other people on Teams around me while I listen to Dream Theater.

This is the way. Now, if only I could bring a decent pair of bluetooth headphones in here... unfortunately, not allowed.

TIL that a VMware vmfs6 partition map has β€œd00d c001” written at address 0x200000, and if it doesn’t, ESXi won’t see it.

You’re welcome.

The latent risks of using generative AI in absolutely any trusted mechanism should be front and center. We haven't reached the state where any LLM can be trusted to properly assess and/or correctly interpret a data set that is derived from publicly accessible forums/unvetted commentary.

If your art requires or uses AI, then it’s not art and you’re not an artist. You have zero appreciation for art if you use AI. You will be looked at as a thief and a lazy schmuck, and it will be deserved. How many gallons of water must you waste to create β€˜art’ that is devoid of any meaning? Trash.

Huh. I wondered why I hadn’t seen anything from her for a while. She’s blocking me. No idea wtf I did to deserve that.

Oh well.

Still not a St. Anger fan, but it’s definitely not the worst thing I’ve ever heard.

Honestly, nothing like working on Windows desktops at work to remind myself why I switched to Linux at home. Can't activate this Windows 11 desktop I'm building against KMS. The key is correct. I've done it thousands of times. I BUILT THE KMS. Nope, "can't reach a KMS server".

Winblows. Y'know.

Yeah, I don't get it. I mean, I detest generative AI as much as the next moose, but wtf does being poor have to do with this equation?

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

We found out what happened to her. It was a completely random occurrence, mesenteric torsion, and there's absolutely nothing we could have done to save her. Even when caught early, this is most often a terminal condition in dogs.

The universe is incredibly cruel sometimes. She deserved better.
