expo go kinda ends once you need a native dep it doesnβt support the exact versions of haha. which to be fair isnβt super duper common
stating this more concretely, i find it hilarious that jack doesn't understand atproto but also he's the only bigtech ceo i can think of who could've agreed to fund initial development under jay's conditions (totally separate entity, ability to cut ties, etc)
we have trains and ziplines at least so i can froth over transit
there might be an actual 1:1 comic sans replacement as well but im not 100% positive on that
i think comic neue is on google fonts actually
i hate being addicted to another game

The @eurosky.social PDS launch is already showing some massive effects on Europe. Hereβs a before and after shot of Frankfurt, Germany.
My dog used to eat hamburger only. Now that I migrated to #eurosky, he eats croissant, wears a black beret and insists to be called "Monsieur".
(only in that one of the world's largest proponents of decentralised social doesn't like atproto bc of the community + the stewards are majority VC funded)
i think atproto can enable all of this and it does suck (only a lil) that jack doesn't believe in it anymore

Maybe the circumstances that we cover have changed. A lot of people feel let down by what now looks like over-optimism on technologyβs impact. Take social mediaβeveryone was thrilled with Twitter in its early days, as well as Facebook and other services. It turned out that there was a lot of toxicity. Donβt you feel that the promise of social media hasn't been met? I think it can be very toxic. But I also learned a lot from it. The biggest thing I would change is to give more sovereignty to people. I do think that Twitter having to be a company was its ultimate downfall. It should have stayed at the protocol level. We should have an open protocol for social media. No company should own it, and we should all be able to build on top of it. That would address a bunch of the problems that have come up.
we all know dorsey himself is a libertarian

why did hilary duff release a new album like two weeks ago
the issue is in this landscape an open protocol that everyone uses would not be seen as a social good by literally anyone except probably libertarians
i think dorsey is right in that an open protocol for everyone ideally would be a social good
how did i totally miss this
i always feel like there are three distinct differently impacted groups in this conversation
1. normie bluesky users: they will get mostly screwed
2. atproto and community microblogers: we'll be fine
3. other apps: honestly, fine
shrinking the "mostly" for group 1 is the long and hard work
i do work for a sponsor so im probably intrinsically biased but i canβt see what google is getting out of this
the conference isnβt even official, maybe google is just throwing around money for the fun of it
this sounds obvious but they are posting headline sounding things
