They've now killed four people -- three U.S. citizens and a Mexican national. They've shot several more.
They've lied about all of them. They haven't shaded the truth. They haven't "misled" us. They've brazenly, knowingly lied while in possession of the evidence disproving their lies.
there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for
A large-scale mythology retelling for us was kind of a toss-up between Arthuriana and Greek mythology, but I have to admit Greek mythology is a lot more accommodating of cannibalism, parental murder, and generational trauma.
does anyone know this story?
the corporate form actually dates to ancient Rome, where the idea - of an organisation being treated in law as a single person - gave rise to the creation of universities and colleges, guilds and political parties
Westminster Meeting House raided by Metropolitan Police again. Statement: “For Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life. Whilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent. That this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.” – Oliver Robertson, Head of Witness and Worship Quakers in Britain, 5 March 2026
Yesterday evening, for the second time in a year, the Met Police raided Westminster Quaker Meeting House and arrested a number of young nonviolent activists.

the impulses themselves are understandable but if you find yourself inclined to respond to current events with "this is unprecedented" and looming possibilities with "we would never" I urge you to learn about how in fact they aren't, and how we already have
Wolverine apparently indoors, a background like the Danger Room or something is seen from head to waist from his right side as he lights a cigerate or something and says, "Maybe it's just the way o' the world that did it. Maybe the dream is DEAD. Maybe we should all stop pretendin' it ain't--" Thanks, Logan.
Like Ryan Coogler said, “Every day I wake up, I get to contribute. That’s what I’m focused on.”
And “I try to protect my love for what I do, as best I can.”
People always confusing the industry that makes the art with the art itself, and thinking if they quash the art, they'll cure the ails of the industry.
brianmcginnisnc Brian McGinnis' wife has NOT been allowed to see him in the hospital. He is currently awaiting surgery for severe injuries. Legal counsel has also been denied access. A Marine veteran. A firefighter. A father of four. And his family still cannot see him.
so apparently Brian McGinnis has been denied access to both his family and legal representation since a sitting senator broke his arm
we live in the worst society in history, one where everyone is miserable, one that is literally killing everything alive, and millions defend it every day because they can’t imagine anything else
The "trans people do school shootings" thing is such a shockingly stark example of the stupidity of bigotry: a "fact" which crumbles upon the most glancing contact with anything resembling reality, wielded with increasingly dangerous intensity as the shibboleth of an increasingly desperate in-group.
It's hilarious that "working class" now applies exclusively to the racist failsons of regional car dealership owners but every unemployed trans person is an "elite".
Also more overt depictions and celebrations of direct action, he said, expectantly.
So, there are fewer than 700,000 Americans with $1m in their 401k accounts, which is terrible, as 4.1 million Americans should retire this year.
Also, the number of plan participants taking a hardship withdrawal is booming in the Trump economy.
You might want some historical perspective for this one. (You might've wanted some for the previous, as well, but that's what the footnotes are for. I mostly want to highlight this use of Google Maps. More like this, please.)

I just learned that Buddy Holly's high school girlfriend was named Echo McGuire.
Good lord. I'm in love.
That's not true. But Tokugawa Iemitsu issued the Sakoku Edict in 1635, closing Japan's borders and rigorously limiting international contact, to avoid an interview with Chotiner
Proton @proton.me · 1h Replied to EinhornPapa Clickbait headline. Proton didn't hand anything to the FBI. Swiss authorities processed a legal request involving a shooting & explosives. This is about the highest existing legal bar. Even then only payment info was disclosed. This proves how little we hold. For max. anonymity - cash or crypto.
This is not a serious company. If they block anyone who points out the hypocrisy in their response to collaborating with the feds, then they absolutely do not care about the promises of privacy.
The mistake is confusing detail vs fidelity. Vibe prototypes let you add a lot of detail quickly, just like how component libraries do.
But all of that detail is essentially distraction and waste. Showing off your tasteful drop shadow on the card view is not stress-testing the merit of the solution
Wait—I've shown symptoms of anxiety, from time to time. Holy shit: am I conscious, too?
Neil Gaiman is innocent—
—of spilling my leftover coffee all over the tray when it was being taken downstairs. That's on me. The rest of that shit though? Oh, yeah. That's him.
People said they wanted more culture pieces on Bsky, right? For COYOTE, I interviewed the @oaklandreviewofbooks.org and @meganwachspress.bsky.social for a behind-the-scenes account of how Megan's 7,000-word feature (!) on coal in Oakland came to be—a phenomenal work of longform journalism.
Having agentic experiences and workloads, as one does.

CSPAN @cspan . @SpeakerJohnson after House blocked War Powers Resolution: "We're not at war, we have no intention at being at war. The president and the Department of Defense have made it very clear, this is a limited operation."
Darkly funny he had enough self-awareness to revert to "Department of Defense" here.
